Robust, Comfortable, and With Small Bike Fuel Consumption, the Used Honda Bros 160 Trail Is a Great Option, but It’s Necessary to Correct Information About Its Year, Price, and Real Consumption Before Buying.

The Honda NXR 160 Bros is one of the most beloved and sought-after bikes in the used market in Brazil. With the reputation of being an urban trail that rides like a 125, but with the robustness and comfort of a 160, it attracts those looking for a versatile vehicle for daily use, capable of tackling the pothole-filled streets of Brazilian cities.

However, when searching for a used model, it is common to find inaccurate information about the year, price, and consumption of the bike. This analysis will uncover the facts about the first generation of the Bros 160, helping you make the best choice when buying.

The End of the Bros 150 and the Arrival of the 160 Trail in 2015

The first point to correct is the manufacturing period. The Honda NXR 160 Bros did not exist in 2013 and 2014. In those years, the current model was still its predecessor, the NXR 150.

The NXR 160 Bros was officially launched at the end of 2014, already as the 2015 line. The first generation, with the design and specifications that made it famous, includes the model years 2015, 2016, and 2017.

The 160cc Heart: The Engine That Combines Performance and Economy

The significant evolution of the Bros was the adoption of the 162.7 cc engine with PGM-FI electronic injection. It delivers up to 14.7 hp of power and 1.60 kgf.m of torque with ethanol, a significant gain compared to the old 150. This engine gave the bike the breath it needed to tackle climbs and small trips with more safety.

The promise of a consumption between 45 and 48 km/l, however, is optimistic. It is possible to reach this mark with the trail, but only under ideal conditions. The reality, confirmed by press tests and owner reports, is an average consumption with gasoline between 38 and 42 km/l, which is still an excellent number.

Rides Like 125, Protects Like 160

The marketing hook used to describe the Bros is very accurate and explains its success.

Rides Like 125: This mainly refers to fuel economy. With an average consumption exceeding 40 km/l on gasoline, it spends almost the same as a smaller utility vehicle like the CG. Additionally, its agility in urban traffic is comparable to that of lighter bikes.

Protects Like 160: This is the main differentiator of the trail. The “protection” comes from comfort and safety. The long-stroke suspension (180 mm in front) absorbs city potholes with an efficiency that no street bike can match. The larger size and the raised riding position also give the rider a greater sense of safety in traffic.

The Real Price in 2025: How Much Does a Bros 160 (2015-2017) Cost?

The price range of R$ 10,000 to R$ 14,000 is a bit outdated. The high demand for this urban trail that rides like a 125 has increased the model’s value in the used market.

The FIPE Table for June 2025 already positions the models between R$ 12,200 (2015) and R$ 13,800 (2017). In the real market, in online ads, prices for bikes in good condition usually range from R$ 11,500 to R$ 15,500, depending on the year and condition.

Points of Attention When Buying: Chronic Problems and Recalls

The Bros 160 is an extremely reliable bike, but like any vehicle, it requires attention. The main point to verify is whether the unit was part of any recall, especially the one regarding the fuel pump, which affected models from 2016 to 2018.

Owners often praise the engine’s durability, but criticize the braking system, especially in versions without a disc on the rear wheel (ESDD version). Therefore, when looking for a used one, giving preference to the ESDD version and checking the recall history is essential for a secure purchase.
