South Korean Automaker Offers Support and Discounts on Parts for Customers Affected by Floods in RS
In response to the recent tragedies caused by the rains in Rio Grande do Sul, RS, Kia Brazil has taken a solidarity initiative to help its customers who own the brand’s cars. In a statement released on social media, the South Korean automaker urged Kia vehicle owners, both new and used, not to attempt to start their cars if they were affected by the floods.
The company stated that it will cover towing expenses for cars to the nearest dealership, in addition to offering a significant discount on damaged parts, according to the website Catraca Livre.

The statement, published on Kia Brazil’s Instagram, details that the automaker will cover towing costs for all models of the brand, even those that are no longer in production. The cars will be taken to the nearest dealership for a technical assessment of the damage. Additionally, Kia is offering a 60% discount on the costs of necessary parts for repairs. Impact of the Rains in Rio Grande do Sul
The floods in Rio Grande do Sul caused significant damage, affecting between 150,000 and 200,000 cars, according to estimates by Cassio Pagliarini, a partner at Bright Consulting, in an interview with the AutoData portal. The state has a fleet of about 2.8 million vehicles, and the recovery of these cars is being treated as urgent.
Insurance companies and auction companies are mobilized in a task force to expedite recovery and processing of claims. Adiel Avelar, CEO of Copart in Brazil, stated that the goal is to speed up the processes so that insurers can pay claims quickly, helping owners regain their lives. Measures by CONTRAN to Relieve the Situation of Citizens
The National Traffic Council (Contran) has also taken measures to alleviate the concerns of citizens in Rio Grande do Sul. Detran-RS has postponed deadlines for renewing the National Driver’s License (CNH) and for appealing fines, among other suspended services, for 90 days.
