Did you know that there are Brazilian cities growing at an accelerated pace, attracting thousands of new residents and businesses, and even surpassing capitals in wealth and infrastructure? With heavy investments in strategic sectors, these cities are moving from being mere promises to solid realities of development. In this article, we reveal the Brazilian municipalities that are advancing the most in 2025, transforming the country’s economic and social landscape.

1. Sorriso (MT) — The Heart of the National Agroindustry That Generated R$ 11 Billion in Agricultural Production Value in 2022

Located in Mato Grosso, Sorriso is today considered the Brazilian capital of agroindustry. In 2022, the municipality generated R$ 11 billion in agricultural production value, equivalent to 1.4% of the national result. Soy production was responsible for R$ 5.8 billion, while corn accounted for over R$ 4 billion.

Additionally, Sorriso holds a prominent position in the production of cotton and beans. With a population growth of over 66% between 2010 and 2022, the city attracts workers, investors, and farmers seeking opportunities. Urban infrastructure and public services have evolved to keep pace with this progress.

2. Camboriú (SC) — Growth Driven by Tourism and Logistics

Neighboring Balneário Camboriú, Camboriú saw its population jump from 62,000 to over 103,000 residents between 2010 and 2022. The municipality benefits from its proximity to one of the country’s largest tourist hubs, attracting residents seeking quality of life at a lower cost.

Its strategic location near BR-101 and just 30 minutes from the Navegantes airport favors the logistics sector and commerce. In addition to beach tourism, Camboriú invests in eco-tourism, with trails and waterfalls that attract visitors year-round.

3. Parauapebas (PA) — The Wealth of Mining Transforms the Municipality with a GDP That Already Exceeds R$ 8.4 Billion

Known as the capital of ore, Parauapebas houses the largest iron ore reserve on the planet, the Serra dos Carajás. This natural wealth drives the local economy with a GDP that already exceeds R$ 8.4 billion.

From 2010 to 2020, the city grew by 73% in population, jumping from 153,000 to over 267,000 residents. The development, led by the mining company Vale, brought improvements in urban infrastructure, commerce, and higher education but also required accelerated expansion of public services.

4. Sinop (MT) — Potential for Agricultural Investment with Sustainable Challenges

Sinop has become a benchmark for growth in the Midwest, particularly in soybean and corn production. Between 2010 and 2022, its population grew from 113,000 to 196,000 residents — a 73% increase.

The city is positioned along BR-163, facilitating the transportation of grains to strategic ports. In addition to universities and agricultural research centers, Sinop now faces the challenge of balancing economic growth with environmental preservation.

5. Luís Eduardo Magalhães (BA) — An Agricultural Investment Pole in Western Bahia

This municipality stands out as one of Brazil’s largest producers of soybeans, corn, and cotton. Between 2010 and 2022, its population grew by almost 80%, from 60,000 to 110,000 residents.

6. Fazenda Rio Grande (PR) — The City Received More Than R$ 3 Million in Investments in Infrastructure Works and Became a New Real Estate and Industrial Pole

Integrating the metropolitan region of Curitiba, Fazenda Rio Grande saw its population jump from 81,000 to 148,000 residents in just over a decade. The accelerated growth is linked to its proximity to the capital and investments in urban mobility.

The city received more than R$ 3 million in infrastructure works since 2019 and has become a new real estate and industrial hub, attracting companies and new residents seeking jobs and quality of life.

7. Senador Canedo (GO) — The Petrochemical Pole of the Midwest: The City Has Two Industrial Districts and More Than 56 Companies Established, Generating Thousands of Jobs

With a population growth of over 84%, Senador Canedo houses the largest petrochemical hub in the Midwest, highlighted by the presence of Petrobras. Its proximity to Goiânia (16 km) facilitates access to the capital and benefits the industrial sector.

The city has two industrial districts and over 56 established companies, generating thousands of direct jobs. Additionally, it has good road connections and expanding urban infrastructure.

8. Itajaí (SC) — Wealth by the Sea: Per Capita Income Exceeds R$ 40,000, and Property Value Appreciation Put Itajaí Among the Most Promising Cities in Brazil

Per capita income exceeds R$ 40,000, and property value appreciation has placed Itajaí among the most promising cities in Brazil. The region’s beaches, like Cabeçudas and Brava, also contribute to attracting investment and high-end tourism.

9. Canaã dos Carajás (PA) — Growth Driven by Vale’s Mega Project: The Largest Investment in the History of Iron Mining in the World

With just over 64,000 residents, Canaã dos Carajás has transformed thanks to Vale’s S11D project, the largest investment in the history of iron mining in the world. The city has received structural improvements in health, education, and transportation.

The project moves 90 million tons of ore per year and has placed Canaã among the most promising municipalities in the North region. Quality of life has improved, with new schools, hospitals, and paved roads.

10. Lucas do Rio Verde (MT) — Capital of Agroindustry

Lucas do Rio Verde experienced one of the most significant population increases in the last three decades. The city is home to large agro-industrial complexes and companies like BRF Sadia.

With innovative urban policies since 2005, the city planned its expansion with public participation, attracting investments and offering excellent infrastructure. It is officially recognized as the capital of agroindustry and is establishing itself as one of the most organized cities in Brazil.
