Spots for Seniors in 107 Undergraduate Courses
The selection was created to increase access for seniors to higher education in various fields, with courses ranging from traditionally more competitive programs like Engineering and Psychology to degrees in diverse areas of knowledge.
UFMS has stated that the spots are spread across units in the state and include face-to-face courses offered at the campuses.
As a general rule, the process is focused on entry into undergraduate courses and does not charge an application fee.
The university has also established that candidates may only submit one application per CPF, selecting their course and modality in the online system.
Classification Criteria in UFMS 60+
UFMS has structured the selection to cater to different candidate profiles, considering both those who have already taken selection process exams and those who have finished high school and intend to compete solely with their school documentation.
In practice, classification can occur based on performance in previous exams or, when this data is not available, through analysis of the high school transcript accompanied by a letter of intent.
The university also provides priority, under specific conditions, for those who have already participated in initiatives aimed at the elderly within the institution.
An important point in the announcement is the order of filling the spots.
First, UFMS plans to fill positions with candidates who fall into the group that presents scores from selection processes.
Only if spots remain after this step can they be filled by those competing with transcripts and letters of intent.
Enem, Encceja, and UFMS Entrance Exam: Which Years Are Valid
Those who wish to compete for a spot based on exam results can use scores from the Enem or Encceja taken between 2018 and 2025, according to the rules announced by UFMS for this process.
It is also possible to compete with scores from the UFMS Entrance Exam administered from 2018 onwards, including the most recent editions, as per the announcement’s regulations.
Candidates who have not taken any of these exams may opt for the high school transcript route, presenting the completion document for the 3rd year of high school and a letter of intent in essay format, explaining their reasons for interest in the course and the university.
Additionally, UFMS informs that participants of the Open University for the Elderly (Unapi) have priority in one of the classification stages, specifically in the modality focused on submitting transcripts and letters of intent.
Preliminary Result Dates and Enrollment
UFMS has established a schedule for the release of the preliminary result on February 19.
Subsequently, a period for submitting administrative appeals is expected, followed by the publication of final results for the appeals, and finally, the announcement of the final result on February 24, on which date the call for enrollment of selected candidates will also be issued.
The university advises candidates to keep up with the official publications related to the selection process, as stages such as calls and enrollment procedures depend on announcements made through institutional channels.
UFMS 60+ Program and Unapi in Higher Education
The selection process is part of the UFMS 60+ program, an initiative approved in 2025 and presented by the university as part of an institutional policy to promote healthy, active, and civic aging in the university environment.
The proposal includes actions in teaching, research, and extension, focusing on accessibility, participation, and welcoming elderly individuals.
Within this framework, Unapi appears as one of the most recognized fronts.
UFMS reported that in the last semester, the program offered dozens of activities and standalone courses, totaling over 1,900 spots in units such as Aquidauana, Campo Grande, Coxim, Naviraí, Três Lagoas, and Pantanal.
The expansion also includes new campuses, such as Chapadão do Sul, Nova Andradina, and Ponta Porã.
When presenting the new selection for undergraduate courses, Rector Camila Ítavo associated the measure with the university’s age inclusion policy.
“The university strengthens itself when it recognizes that learning happens throughout life.
The presence of people aged 60 or older in undergraduate courses enhances dialogue between generations and reaffirms UFMS’s social role.”
How to Enroll in the UFMS 60+ Selection Process
Enrollment must be done online, between January 19 and February 13, on the online system indicated by UFMS, by completing the registration, choosing the course, and submitting the required documentation for the selected modality, respecting the official time of Mato Grosso do Sul.
Before completing the submission, it’s worth checking whether the attached documents correspond to the chosen route, whether through Enem, Encceja, or UFMS Entrance Exam scores, or through high school transcripts and letters of intent, since classification directly depends on this material.
