With Highlighting in Agriculture and Expansion in International Markets, Santa Catarina Exports Reach Significant Growth in 2025, Strengthening Competitiveness and the Dynamics of the Catarinense Economy
Santa Catarina’s exports recorded a growth of 5% between January and September 2025, according to official data from the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC), according to an article published.
The revenue rose from US$ 8.5 billion in the first nine months of 2024 to US$ 9 billion in the same period this year, achieving the second highest result in the historical series.
The performance demonstrates the strength of the Catarinense economy and the consolidation of the state as one of the main exporting hubs in the country.

China returned almost 20 Brazilian ships with soybeans, but now everything could change: the country that buys 80% of the grain is considering relaxing regulations after impurities held up shipments of thousands of tons and caused million-dollar losses.
Agricultural products continue to lead external sales, while industrial sectors expand their participation in demanding markets.
The state government, according to Governor Jorginho Mello, has reinforced investments in infrastructure and bureaucracy reduction, which further strengthens local competitiveness and access to new international markets.
Catarinense Agriculture Maintains Leadership in the Exports of Meats and Soybean
The agriculture of Santa Catarina remains the main driver of state exports. In 2025, the state recorded US$ 1.29 billion in pork sales, the same amount achieved by poultry, in addition to US$ 447 million from soybeans.
These three products together represent a significant share of the export agenda and consolidate the state as a reference in quality and productivity in the sector.
The good performance is also a result of investment in animal health, traceability, and access to high-value international markets that recognize the excellence of Catarinense products.
Diversification of destinations has ensured stability against currency fluctuations and changes in global demand.
Catarinense Industry Gains Space with High-Value-Added Products
Beyond agriculture, the exporting industry of Santa Catarina has expanded its participation in the external scenario.
Products like electric motors (US$ 416 million), engine parts (US$ 276 million), and sawn timber (US$ 270 million) drive the Catarinense presence in higher value-added sectors.
According to the State Secretary of Industry, Commerce, and Services, Silvio Dreveck, productive diversity is one of the state’s differentiators, which exports to more than 200 destinations worldwide.
This performance reinforces the local industry’s ability to meet demanding markets with technology and innovation, in addition to directly contributing to keeping Santa Catarina with the lowest unemployment rate in the country.
Growth in Emerging Markets Strengthens September Results
The month of September presented the second-best historical result for the period, with revenue of US$ 1.05 billion.
Although there was a slight decline of 1.2% compared to September 2024, the growth of exports to new international markets ensured a positive balance.
There was a strong increase in sales to Chile (+49.6%), the Philippines (+42.8%), and Paraguay (+25.6%).
Other countries, such as Japan (+12%), Saudi Arabia (+7.7%), Mexico (+6.7%), and Argentina (+6.2%), also increased their purchases.
Even with a decline in shipments to the United States (-54%) and China (-1%), the diversified performance kept the state above the historical average and reinforced its global presence.
Historical Series Shows Consolidation of the Catarinense Export Economy
The historical record of Santa Catarina’s exports evidences a consistent growth cycle: US$ 6.8 billion (2019), US$ 6.1 billion (2020), US$ 7.4 billion (2021), US$ 9.2 billion (2022), US$ 8.8 billion (2023), US$ 8.5 billion (2024), and US$ 9 billion in 2025.
This evolution demonstrates economic maturity and the ability to adapt to global challenges.
With government support, logistics investments and skilled labor, the state maintains a prominent position among Brazil’s largest exporters, balancing performance between sustainable agriculture and competitive technological industry.
