Brazil Already Settles Soy and Meat Exports in Yuan in 2025; Advance Pressures Dollar and Reinforces Dependence on China in Agriculture.

Soy and meat exports from Brazil to China are already settled in yuan in 2025, reducing the dollar’s space and reinforcing dependence on Beijing. In 2025, a silent change began to redefine the machinery that drives Brazilian agribusiness. For the first time, soy and beef export contracts to China began to be settled directly in yuan, the Chinese currency. What seemed unthinkable a few years ago has become reality: producers, traders, and meatpackers now receive their payments without the mediation of the dollar.

This transition marks another chapter in the dedollarization of global trade and reinforces China’s weight as Brazil’s main client. More than 70% of exported soy has Beijing as its destination, and Brazilian beef is hitting record shipments to the Chinese market. By accepting yuan, Brazilian agribusiness is not only adapting to the demands of its largest buyer but also repositioning the country on the global chessboard.

Why the Yuan Arrived in Agriculture

The change is no coincidence. It was made possible by three factors:

  • The swap agreement of R$ 157 billion signed between the Central Bank of Brazil and the People’s Bank of China in 2025, which ensured liquidity in yuan.
  • The creation of clearing infrastructure (direct settlement in RMB) in Brazil, operated by Chinese banks like ICBC.
  • The private sector’s interest in reducing exchange rate costs, as each dollar contract incurred fees, spreads, and risk of variation.

For a shipment of 60,000 tons of soy, the savings can reach millions of reais just by choosing the currency.

The Direct Impact on Producers

Producers and meatpackers who have adopted the model report immediate gains:

  • More Predictability: by closing contracts in yuan, risks linked to dollar volatility are reduced.
  • Agility: Brazilian banks can now operate direct credit in RMB, accelerating payments.
  • Competitiveness: those who settle in yuan tend to offer better prices without losing margin.

But there are also concerns. Many producers, especially medium and small ones, fear that this change will make them even more dependent on China — which already concentrates its bargaining power in the volume of purchases.

The Alert from the Financial Sector

Economists point out that the novelty is a technical advance and a strategic risk. On one hand, Brazilian agribusiness gains efficiency. On the other, dependence grows on a currency that is still not fully convertible, tightly controlled by the Chinese government.

In other words: the security of yuan as a settlement currency depends on political stability and decisions from Beijing. Unlike the dollar, which operates in open markets with global liquidity, the yuan carries the mark of centralization.

The Geopolitical Game

This shift in agriculture isn’t just of interest to Brazil and China. In Washington, the alarm bells are sounding louder. If Brazilian agricultural exports — among the largest on the planet — begin to circulate in yuan, that means billions of dollars less flowing through the American system.

For the European Union, the problem is different: by losing ground in soy and meat purchases, Brussels finds itself doubly weakened — as a market and as a monetary reference.

The Future of Brazilian Agriculture

The movement is still in its early stages but is likely to grow. Large traders are already testing contracts in yuan, and leading meatpackers are studying expanding this model. If solidified, Brazil could become the first major agricultural exporter to have yuan as the dominant currency in part of its trade balance.

The question is whether this advance will give the country more autonomy or reinforce a new dependence. After all, with more than 70% of soy and meat intended for China, Brazil is already in the hands of Chinese appetite — now, also in the monetary field.

The adoption of yuan in Brazilian agriculture is presented as a victory: lower costs, more predictability, and direct integration with its largest buyer. But it can also be a trap: the currency that guarantees immediate profits is the same one that could lock the sector into an unprecedented dependency.

In 2025, the message is clear: the dollar has begun to lose space in the heart of Brazilian agriculture — and who fills this void is Beijing’s yuan.

A vida é feita de opções.
Quem nos empurrou pra essa, foi o TRUMP com suas loucuras, em taxar os parceiros comerciais.
O futuro brevemente poderá dar a resposta a todas estas perguntas do texto.
Resposta, NÃO e a partir desse pressuposto, NINGUÉM PODE APOIAR UM DÉSPOTA DESSES.
