The governor emphasized the importance of the State’s role and the transformation brought about by the investment. “We discussed the State’s contributions, roads, paving, railways, fiber optics, which need to reach the company, all the actions that the State must take to enable what is one of the largest private investments in Brazil and which will begin this year, the forest area, which is the production base for the pulp company. So, we deliver the actions of the State Government daily to make this unit feasible,” said Riedel.
He concluded his remarks by pointing out that the enterprise aligns with the future of Mato Grosso do Sul, as the investment will bring new fields for jobs, income, and opportunities for the people of Inocência.
The Implementation of the Pulp Factory Will Bring Economic, Social, and Sustainable Development to the Municipality
Director Mário Neto also commented on the investment. He pointed out that the Government of Mato Grosso do Sul is providing excellent support for the enterprise, and that, due to this support, the ties between the company and the State are stronger.
“We are very confident about the Sucuriú project, with the cooperation of the State and Municipal Government. From the beginning, the project has always been structured this way: teamwork between the Government, the Municipality, and Arauco. This project, just like Arauco’s DNA, is strongly grounded in the three pillars of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance best practices) and sustainability, and we are sure it will bring economic and social development, along with a highly sustainable approach in managing and executing projects here in the State, ensuring that Mato Grosso do Sul truly consolidates itself as the Pulp Valley,” he commented.
Jaime Verruck, Secretary of Environment, Development, Science, Technology, and Innovation, highlighted that Mato Grosso do Sul is on track to become the largest producer of pulp in the world and emphasized the importance of the State’s contributions.
“We are constructing a factory in Ribas do Rio Pardo and now the Arauco project of the same magnitude in the municipality of Inocência. We call Mato Grosso do Sul the Pulp Valley, exactly for this reason. We are the 2nd in pulp production, 1st in exports, but with these projects, we will become the largest pulp-producing state in the world with highly sustainable projects,” he stated.
