The Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz), a national reference in science and public health, has opened a selection process for the Multiprofessional Residency in Family Health.
The course will be taught by the Sergio Arouca National School of Public Health (ENSP) and will start in March 2026, extending until March 2028.
This is an opportunity for a free, in-person postgraduate program with a monthly stipend of R$ 4,106.09, aimed at professionals from different health areas.

Intensive Training Until 2028
The residency will have a total workload of 5,760 hours, with a 60-hour weekly schedule.
Of this total, 80% of the time will be dedicated to practical and theoretical-practical activities in health units, while 20% will correspond to theoretical activities.
The model is service-based education, in which learning occurs within the daily routine of Primary Health Care, alongside Family Health teams in clinics and basic units of the municipal network of Rio de Janeiro.

Who Can Participate
Both Brazilian and foreign nationals with residency visas in Brazil can apply.
A degree in Nursing, Dentistry, Psychology, Nutrition, Social Work, Pharmacy or Physical Education is required.
Another requirement is active registration in the corresponding professional council for the area of training.
The notice provides for a total of 28 vacancies, distributed among the categories, some of which are reserved for affirmative actions.

What the Resident Will Do
During the two years of training, residents will work in direct contact with the population, developing assistive and management practices in health.
Activities include consultations, group care, home visits, health education actions, and participation in team meetings.
Supervision will be provided by tutors and preceptors from ENSP and the municipal health network.
In the end, the student must develop a Residency Conclusion Project (TCR), which will be presented publicly and incorporated into the scientific production of Fiocruz.
Stipend and Exclusive Dedication
Selected candidates receive a monthly stipend of R$ 4,106.09, funded by the Ministry of Health according to the Interministerial Ordinance MEC/MS No. 9, of October 13, 2021.
To maintain the benefit, exclusive dedication is required.
This means that the resident cannot have another paid employment relationship or attend courses that compromise the workload of the residency.

Strategic Importance for the SUS
The Multiprofessional Residency in Family Health aims to strengthen Primary Care, regarded as the entry point to the Unified Health System (SUS).
According to Fiocruz, the course seeks to train professionals capable of working in an integrated and multiprofessional manner, enhancing the health system’s response capacity in areas of greater vulnerability.
Furthermore, the pedagogical proposal values permanent education, encouraging residents to reflect on the work process and contribute to innovations in assistive practices.
Selection Process
The registration period runs from July 23 to August 25, 2025.
The selection process will be divided into two main stages:
- In-person objective exam, to be held in October 2025.
- Curriculum analysis with oral interview, scheduled for November of the same year.
The final result will be announced in January 2026.
Enrollments must be conducted between December 15, 2025, and January 23, 2026, with the official start of activities in March 2026.
How to Apply for the Fiocruz Course
To apply, interested parties must access the ENSP education portal.
In the registration area, it will be necessary to select: Mode: In-person, Category: Residency, Unit: ENSP, and finally, the course Multiprofessional Residency in Family Health.
The system will request the submission of personal documents, proof of registration with the professional council, and diploma or certificate of completion of higher education.
All official communications, answer keys, results, and summons will be made available on the SIGALS Platform, the academic management system of Fiocruz.
