The City Hall of Salvador, in partnership with Senai Cimatec, launched the announcement of the SalCine Selection Process – Cycle II, which offers 80 spots in free professional qualification courses in the audiovisual sector. The free courses from Senai provide a certificate valid across the country and represent a unique opportunity for those seeking quality qualifications in technical areas related to cinema and creative production.

In addition to the free courses, approved students will benefit from a transportation allowance, provided through the Salvador Card.

The allowance covers transportation for all in-person and practical classes, including technical visits, throughout the course duration.

According to the Senai Cimatec superintendence, “SalCine not only trains professionals but also strengthens Salvador’s creative economy, creating real job insertion opportunities and valuing local culture.”

Objective Of The Professional Qualification Courses And Course Load

The main objective of the free Senai courses is to train qualified professionals to work at different stages of audiovisual production, from scene preparation to post-production. Classes will be held in-person, three times a week, with possible activities on Saturdays.

Each Senai course has a course load of 120 hours, divided between theoretical classes, practical sessions, technical visits, and technology-mediated activities. To pass, students must have a minimum attendance of 75% and a final average of 7 or higher.

The Senai announcement provides for 20 spots for each course, totaling 80 opportunities:

Camera Assistance – 20 spots
Editing – 20 spots
Sound Editing and Mixing – 20 spots
Machinery and Electrical – 20 spots

Classes will take place in three locations in Salvador: Senai Cimatec Digital and Creative (Historic Center, Praça da Sé), Senai Cimatec (Avenida Orlando Gomes, Piatã), and Igluloc (Rio Vermelho).

Selection Process And Quotas

The selection will be conducted in two stages: an eliminatory assessment that verifies compliance with prerequisites, and a ranking based on the analysis of submitted documents, especially proof of prior experience in the audiovisual field.

Additionally, the announcement provides for additional points for marginalized groups, including black people, indigenous people, women, people with disabilities, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and low-income individuals, reinforcing the commitment to social inclusion.

Requirements For Registration

Applicants must be at least 18 years old, residents of Salvador, and have completed at least Elementary School.

Proof of prior knowledge in the chosen area is required, through certificates or statements, as well as availability for classes in the evening and on Saturdays.

Applicants need to attach identification documents, proof of education, proof of residency, and, when applicable, a statement of belonging to minority social groups.
