The program includes six areas of concentration, each with specific research lines, allowing candidates to choose the one that best aligns with their academic and professional interests.
The available areas are:
- Culture, Philosophy, and History of Education
Focuses on the analysis of the theoretical and epistemological foundations of educational processes and the cultural mediations between theories and educational practices.
- Scientific, Mathematical, and Technological Education
Explores methodologies and practices related to the teaching of sciences, mathematics, and technology, aiming to enhance the quality of education in these areas.
- Education and Social Sciences: Inequalities and Differences
Investigates the relationships between education and society, addressing themes such as inequality, diversity, and inclusion in the educational context.
- Education, Language, and Psychology
Studies the interactions between educational processes, psychological development, and language practices, seeking to understand how these elements interrelate in the school environment.
- State, Society, and Education
Analyzes educational public policies and the organization of educational work, considering the interfaces between the state, society, and pedagogical practices.
- Training, Curriculum, and Pedagogical Practices
Focuses on the study of teacher training, curriculum development, and innovative pedagogical practices, aiming to improve the quality of education.
Openings and Selection Process at USP
The announcement provides for the offer of 112 openings, equally distributed between the two admission semesters: 56 openings for the second semester of 2025 and 56 for the first semester of 2026.
Applications will be open from February 24 to 27, 2025, and must be submitted exclusively through the official website of the Graduate Program in Education at FEUSP.
No application fee will be charged, and all required documents must be submitted in PDF format.
The selection process will consist of four eliminatory stages, each requiring a minimum score of 7.0 for approval:
Specific Knowledge Exam (In-Person): Theoretical assessment on topics related to the chosen area of concentration.
Analysis of Research Project and Resume: Verification of the project’s relevance to the research line and analysis of the candidate’s academic and professional trajectory.
Defense of Research Project and Resume (Remote): Interview with the evaluating committee to discuss the project and the candidate’s fit for the program.
Document Verification: Checking the required documents for enrollment.
The in-person exams will take place from April 1 to 3, 2025, according to the chosen area of concentration. Remote defenses will be conducted from June 2 to 13, 2025.
Requirements for Application
Candidates who hold an undergraduate degree recognized by the Ministry of Education (MEC) or validated in Brazil for foreign degrees may apply.
Candidates must choose a single area of concentration and, where applicable, a specific research line.
Additionally, candidates must present a research project aligned with the chosen area and the investigative profile of available advisors.
