The announcement establishes priority for graduates of Art Licensure programs.
Candidates with related qualifications can compete according to the rules of each associated institution.
Proof of classroom activity is mandatory at the time of enrollment.
Course Format and Objectives
With a duration of 24 months and 420 hours of activities, PROFARTES is a stricto sensu program that qualifies teachers to strengthen the connection between pedagogical practice and academic research in Art.
The workload is divided into 360 hours of in-person classes and 60 hours online, preserving the school as a central space for investigation and intervention.
Coordination and National Network
The national coordination of PROFARTES is based at UFU, which also organizes the National Access Exam in collaboration with the Higher Education Institutions (IES) involved.
The network comprises 15 IES distributed across the country, ensuring regional outreach and local execution of the course.
Research Lines in Arts Education
The area of concentration is Arts Education, structured into two lines.
The first, Teaching, Learning, and Creation Processes in Arts, investigates formative practices and their connections with Visual Arts, Dance, Music, and Theater, including media developments.
The second, Theoretical-Methodological Approaches to Teaching Practices, examines the relationships between theory, methodology, and experimentation in the classroom across different artistic languages.
Participating Institutions and Available Places
The 317 places are distributed among the institutions associated with the program, including IFG, UDESC, UNESP, UFAM/UEA, UFBA, UnB, UFC, UFMA, UFMG, UFPA, UFPB, UFRN, UFU, UFMS, and URCA.
The complete list of available places by institution and, when applicable, by subfield, is published in Annex II of the announcement.
In case of unfilled local positions, the Management Council may reallocate places among the associates.
Selection Stages and Criteria
The selection is eliminatory and consists of two stages.
In Stage I, the Research Project Analysis with Portfolio takes place from November 7 to November 21, 2025, with a preliminary result available from 9 AM on November 24.
Stage II consists of the Defense Exam, conducted from November 28 to December 5, 2025.
The result of the defense will be announced from 6 PM on December 8.
After appeals, the final classification will be published starting from 6 PM on December 15, 2025.
The final score is the arithmetic average of the two stages, with candidates scoring a minimum of 7.0 being considered approved.
What Will Be Evaluated
In the project analysis with portfolio, the boards will check the consistency of the teaching trajectory, the clarity of the research problem, and the alignment with the program’s lines.
In the defense, the focus is on the candidate’s relationship with artistic practices in school and the objectives of the proposed research, always referring to the context of Basic Education.
Scholarships and Access Policies
The announcement states that CAPES may grant scholarships to up to 30% of the total available places, dependent on budget availability and quotas designated for each IES.
In addition to the open competition places, there are affirmative action policies defined by each institution, detailed in Annex III.
Where the Course Takes Place
The activities occur in-person at the campus of the IES where the candidate is approved, with distance components provided in the pedagogical project.
Each university is responsible for enrollment and the start of classes calendar, observing the forecast for enrollment in March 2026.
How to Apply
Applications must be made exclusively online, at the National Coordination website (UFU) and/or at the addresses of the associated IES.
The application period is from 12:01 AM on October 1st to 11:59 PM on October 30, 2025, according to Brasília time.
The candidate needs to fill out the electronic form, attach the required documentation mentioned in the announcement, and meet the participation conditions, such as proving teaching activity in Art in Basic Education.
