Buying a car is an investment, but the cost of maintenance and repairs can be an unpleasant surprise. To help consumers prepare, a detailed survey revealed the highest prices for some replacement parts in the Brazilian market.

The results, shocking due to their exorbitant values, serve as a crucial warning that the price of a car is just the beginning.

The Study and the Criteria of the Analysis
The survey aimed to identify the highest prices for the following parts: right headlight, right mirror, front bumper, right taillight, air conditioning, engine, and fuel filters, and the set of four shock absorbers.
The analysis focused on components that can be damaged in minor accidents or require periodic replacement, such as filters, to highlight the true cost of ownership of vehicles across different categories.
The survey, which analyzed models ranging from entry-level cars to luxury SUVs, showed that in many cases, the price of a single part could equal the price of a used popular car.
The Ranking of the Most Expensive Parts in Brazil
The results are surprising, with premium and luxury brands dominating the top of the list. Check out the ranking of the parts with the highest prices:
- Most Expensive Headlight in Brazil: one of the most expensive and visibly fragile items of a modern vehicle. The headlight of the Audi Q5 was the most expensive in the survey, with an impressive price of R$ 50,941. This high price is partly justified by the embedded technology, such as LED lighting systems and adaptive matrix.
- Most Expensive Mirror in Brazil: another part commonly damaged in light collisions or maneuvers. The mirror of the Lexus RX 500h F-Sport has a replacement cost of R$ 19,370.
- Most Expensive Bumper in Brazil: in the event of a collision, this is one of the first parts that needs replacement. The bumper of the Range Rover Evoque costs R$ 17,900.
- Most Expensive Taillight in Brazil: the rear can also have shocking costs. The taillight of the Chevrolet Silverado was the most expensive, with a price of R$ 13,693.
The Surprise of Maintenance and Suspension Items
It’s not just collision costs that are concerning. The study also revealed extremely high prices for maintenance and suspension items, which are periodically replaced and can weigh heavily on the owner’s wallet.
- Most Expensive Shock Absorbers in Brazil: the set of four shock absorbers for the Range Rover Evoque has a scary price of R$ 39,530.
- Most Expensive Air Conditioning Filter in Brazil: the component for the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé costs R$ 1,270, showing that even basic maintenance on luxury cars can have high costs.
- Most Expensive Engine Air Filter in Brazil: the item for the Volvo XC60 is priced at R$ 1,810.
- Most Expensive Fuel Filter in Brazil: the component for the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is the most expensive on the list, valued at R$ 2,500.
The study “Qual Comprar 2025” emphasizes the importance of considering not only the purchase price of a vehicle but also the maintenance and replacement costs.
For cars up to R$ 600,000, the difference in replacement values between brands can be enormous.
