Real consumption, 0 to 100 km/h performance, giant trunk, fewer airbags than rivals and 1.3 Firefly CVT engine has lost power! Is it still worth it or are Onix Plus and HB20S better choices? Find out now!
If you are thinking about buying a compact sedan and are unsure about the Fiat Cronos 2025, hold on tight because we will give you all the answers.
The model remains among the best-sellers, competing with Onix Plus, HB20S and Virtus, but the question remains: does it still deliver what it promises or is it becoming dated?
What's new in the Fiat Cronos 2025?
Well, if you were expecting big changes… forget it. Fiat kept almost everything the same, and the new features are practically only aesthetic. The S Design package brings darkened 15-inch wheels, gloss black details and… that's it.
- App driver innovates with anti-theft system to tackle wave of thefts in Brazilian cities
- After 960 attempts and a cost of R$70, an elderly woman finally managed to get her driver's license
- Honda's new motorcycle costs R$7,2 and does almost 50 km/h and could become a hit in Brazil!
- Elon Musk says he is 'shocked' by the level of hate and vandalism happening against Tesla
Now, a curious (and controversial) detail: even though it costs more than R$100, it doesn't have LED headlights, something that its competitors already offer.
And that rear spoiler? It's just for show, it doesn't change the performance at all.
Fuel consumption of the Fiat Cronos 2025: Does it really do 15 km/l?
Yes, the 2025 Fiat Cronos has very good fuel consumption for a naturally aspirated sedan, especially if you drive it a lot. In our test, it did:
11,3 km/l in the city
15,4 km/l on the highway
Not bad, right? But the question is: the turbo competitors deliver similar numbers, but with much more power at the start.
Comparison between Onix Plus and HB20S – Which is better?
Now let's get to the point: how does Cronos fare against its main rivals? Take a look at the numbers:
Model | Modules | Torque | City consumption (km/l) | Road consumption (km/l) | Starting price (R$) |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Fiat Cronos 2025 | 107 hp (ethanol) | 13,6 kgfm | 11,3 | 15,4 | R$98.990 |
Onix Plus 1.0 Turbo | 116 hp (ethanol) | 16,8 kgfm | 10,5 | 14,7 | R$109.990 |
HB20S 1.0 Turbo | 120 hp (ethanol) | 17,5 kgfm | 11,0 | 15,2 | R$112.990 |
The real thing? The Cronos loses out on engine power, as its competitors have turbo engines, which makes a huge difference in everyday life.
Positive point? It's cheaper, but for what it offers, is it worth saving?
Design and finish – What has changed?
Look… almost nothing has changed. The design is still beautiful, but without any major innovations. The giant 525-liter trunk remains one of its main assets.
Inside, the finish remains simple, with lots of plastic and fabric seats. No air conditioning vents for the rear passengers.
The multimedia center? The same since 2017. That's right, Fiat continues using the same system years ago, while competitors have already updated.
Engine and performance – Lost power?
Here comes some news that may be unpleasant: the 1.3 Firefly engine has lost torque. Now, it delivers:
107 hp with ethanol / 98 hp with gasoline
13,6 kgfm with ethanol / 13,1 kgfm with gasoline
The 0 to 100 km/h was done in 12,9 seconds, which is not fast at all. If you like a smarter car, the Cronos might not be the best choice.
Technology and security – Are you behind the competition?
Well, there's a serious problem here. While the Onix Plus, HB20S and Virtus already come with six airbags, the Fiat Cronos 2025 only has two.
It doesn't have any driver assistance features, such as automatic braking or blind spot warning. In a car costing over R$100, this is a big deal.
What does he have?
7-inch multimedia center (outdated)
Single zone digital air conditioning
Autopilot
Traction and stability control
Basically, just the basics.
Price and cost-benefit of the Fiat Cronos 2025 – Is it still worth it?
The 2025 Fiat Cronos starts at R$98.990 and can reach R$117.990 for the most equipped version. This means that, with a little more money, you can get an Onix Plus, HB20S or even a Virtus, which are more modern and complete engines.
In other words, if you just want an economical and robust car to drive, the Cronos may still be an option. But if you want technology and more performance, it might be worth investing a little more.
The Cronos is less technological and safe than its competitors, but it has a great advantage... After many kilometers driven, the cost-benefit is infinitely superior, because maintenance is cheaper than the others without a doubt.
