Modified Fiat Panda Could Enter the Guinness Book as the Lowest Car in the World at Only 59 cm with a Lawnmower Engine.
Automotive modifications always attract attention, but a group of Italian YouTubers took this idea to the extreme with a project that transformed a modified Fiat Panda into a true rarity on wheels. At just 59.5 centimeters tall, the vehicle not only drives through the streets of Milan but has also been officially recognized as the lowest car in the world by the Guinness Book, the book of records.
The unusual creation was developed by Italians Cocchi Rudi, Matteo Marzetti, and Nicola Guadagnin, members of the channel Carmagheddon, specializing in tunings and crazy experiences with automobiles. The trio came up with the idea of cutting a Fiat Panda in half and creating a functional car powered by a lawnmower engine.
How the Lowest Car in the World Was Created – Modified Fiat Panda
It all started with a first-generation Fiat Panda, acquired from an Italian junkyard. According to the creators, the choice of the Panda was not random. They were looking for a light model with a high and sturdy structure, making it easier to adapt the body for the necessary vertical cut.

The mission was simple: to build the lowest car in the world that was still drivable, which required a series of adaptations in both the appearance and operation of the vehicle.
After weeks of planning and testing, the Panda had its upper part lowered to the limit and was adjusted to operate with a two-stroke lawnmower engine, allowing it to run at a maximum speed of 16 km/h.
Jury-Rigging and Creativity: The Secret of the Project
The construction of the modified Fiat Panda involved more creativity than cutting-edge technology. To achieve the lowest height possible, traditional wheels and tires were discarded and replaced with shopping cart wheels, installed on the bottom of the hood, which became a fixed piece.
The interior of the vehicle offers no comfort. Drivers have to drive practically lying down, as the space is so limited that there is not even a windshield. To get around this problem, the creators installed a GoPro camera on the exterior, allowing the driver to see the path through a small internal screen.
The steering wheel, of course, also needed to be adapted. It was repositioned and resized so that it could be possible to drive the car in the tiny remaining space. Although the look resembles more of a video game bug than a real car, the vehicle is completely functional.
Official Recognition from the Guinness Book
After completing the project and conducting tests, the creators of the Carmagheddon channel submitted the invention to the Guinness Book, which assessed the proposal and, in January 2024, officially awarded the title of the lowest car in the world to the modified Fiat Panda, with a height of 59.5 cm.
The previous title belonged to a similar model made in Japan, but the Italian Panda managed to surpass the mark by a few centimeters. The Guinness confirmed that the car is drivable and functional, which was one of the main criteria for granting the title.
Despite this, the recognition sparked controversy among internet users and automotive enthusiasts. Many questioned the vehicle’s viability on public roads, citing the absence of headlights, rearview mirrors, and minimum safety equipment, which would theoretically prevent its use outside controlled events.
Can It Drive on the Streets?
Technically, the Guinness stated that the car can circulate, but did not specify under what conditions. In practice, the low height of the vehicle, the extremely uncomfortable driving position, and the lack of safety structure make its operation on public roads highly questionable.
The car has no rain protection, lacks seat belts or airbags, and is extremely difficult for other drivers to see, which poses a high risk in urban environments.
Tuning to the Extreme: The Playful Side of Modifications
The initiative by Carmagheddon is further proof that the tuning universe is not limited to just lowering, unique paint jobs, or sound system swaps. Projects like the modified Fiat Panda explore creativity and humor, showing that the passion for cars can also be a form of artistic expression and entertainment.
The success of the video on social media was instantaneous. Millions of views and comments put the Carmagheddon channel on the radar of car enthusiasts and curious individuals worldwide. The 59 cm Panda has already entered history as one of the most unusual automotive creations in recent years.
