The national automotive market is undergoing various important changes in 2024, with the discontinuation of several emblematic vehicles. Popular cars will disappear from dealerships, including the Chevrolet Bolt EV and the Citroën C4 Cactus, which will no longer be available at dealerships in brand new condition.

We have separated below the main vehicles that will stop being produced and sold in Brazil, highlighting their specifications and the legacy they leave behind. The end of popular cars may impact car enthusiasts and the resale market.

Popular cars will disappear from dealerships, and among them are the electric models Chevrolet Bolt EV and Bolt EUV, which are still available on the Chevrolet Brazil website but have ceased production. However, a new electric version of the Equinox is expected to replace the Bolt. Despite being complete, their prices are high, starting at R$ 240,150 for the Bolt EV and R$ 279,783 for the Bolt EUV.

The iconic Chevrolet Camaro will end production, marking the end of the sixth generation of the muscle car. Although the name may be reused in the future, the current SS Coupe version will be discontinued, with a limited edition of 125 units being launched in Brazil. The model is equipped with a powerful V8 engine and is a symbol of performance.

Since mid-2019, rumors have claimed the end of the Citroën C4 Cactus in Brazil; however, only in 2024 will the SUV officially be discontinued. Bringing the end of popular cars, despite having remained in the market for a significant time, the project is starting to seem outdated compared to competitors. The C4 Cactus stood out for its THP 1.6 flex turbo engine, which will continue to be remembered for its power and torque.

Although the production of the Porsche Macan continues, after 2026, only electric versions will be available. This entry-level SUV from Porsche, known as Baby Cayenne, had great sales performance in Brazil and worldwide. In 2023, 2,615 units were sold in Brazil. The transition to electric marks a new era for the model and the brand.

The phasing out of these models in Brazil highlights a transitional phase in the automotive market, driven by technological innovations and environmental demands.

The year 2024 will mark an important transition with the end of popular cars. By the end of this year, the country will enter the eighth phase of the national pollutant emissions control program, called Proconve L8. As a result, some manufacturers have taken the opportunity to clean up their product catalogs.

One example is Chevrolet, which plans to remove about six models from its lineup in 2024, and popular cars will disappear from dealerships. Some will be without a substitute, while others will be replaced by electric models. Renault will phase out two cars from its portfolio, in line with the arrival of the Kardian. Toyota will do the same when the SUV Yaris Cross comes.

Production of the Chevrolet Cruze and Cruze Sport6 in Argentina has already ended. South America was the last region in the world to phase out the family with the Sedan and medium hatch built on the same Delta platform. However, the duo officially left the catalog in the first half of this year when stocks were depleted at dealerships.

The first mid-size pickup sold in Brazil, although hardly anyone remembers, is the JAC iEV330P, which had its sales discontinued by the SHC group, the official importer of the Chinese brand, still in the first half of 2024.
