Airbus A330 Expected To Arrive At The Galeão Air Base During The End Of July, According To Predictions From The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) And Azul Airlines
The first Airbus A330 aircraft is about to arrive on Brazilian soil for use by FAB, and the aircraft is expected to land at the Galeão Air Base on the 26th of this July. This is the first aircraft of its kind to be used for military purposes in the national territory and will significantly contribute to the FAB fleet in Brazil.
So far, the Airbus A330 has undergone a series of services in other countries, including structural maintenance in Jordan and painting by the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) in Ireland. Although the expected delivery time for such a vehicle is typically longer, there has been urgency from FAB regarding the current need for the aircraft, and therefore, painting and maintenance services were conducted in different locations.

Thus, the aircraft is now ready to arrive on Brazilian soil at the Galeão Air Base and be utilized by the country’s Air Force, which signed the contract with Azul Airlines for the acquisition in April 2022.
The choice of the aircraft model was considered for compatibility with the military version A330 MRTT (Multi-Role Tanker Transport), and Azul Airlines was selected in the bidding process after meeting all the criteria of the tender. Additionally, the airline’s offer to FAB amounted to approximately US$ 80 million, equivalent to R$ 375 million.
FAB Aims To Use The Aircraft Acquired From Azul Airlines To Address Its Operational Shortcomings And Ensure Greater Safety In Public Calamity Situations
The entire delivery process of the Airbus A330 to FAB was expedited for a swift arrival at the Galeão Air Base since the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) needed to use Azul Airlines’ vehicle to address its operational shortcomings, such as Aerial Refueling (REVO), Air Logistics Transport (of cargo and passengers), and Humanitarian Aid.
Furthermore, the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) also intends to use the aircraft in emergency and public calamity situations in the national territory, not limiting its use to military purposes. Therefore, in situations such as a pandemic, natural disasters, or even medical emergencies, the Airbus A330 will carry out Aeromedical Evacuation (EVAM) missions for a large number of patients.
