New Ford Bronco RTR Debuts in Detroit with 2.3 EcoBoost Turbo Engine, Enhanced Suspension, and Exclusive Design for Severe Trails.
Ford unveiled a new configuration of the Ford Bronco RTR at the Detroit Auto Show, an off-road SUV developed to face extreme conditions.
The model was revealed in the United States in early 2026, as a result of the partnership with RTR Vehicles, and emerges as a more accessible alternative to the Bronco Raptor.
The news reinforces the brand’s global strategy, which envisions relevant launches until 2027 and reignites expectations about the future of the Ford Bronco in Brazil.

Right at its debut, the Ford Bronco RTR catches attention by combining mechanical robustness, technical solutions aimed at off-road, and a strategic positioning within the Bronco line.
The presentation comes at a decisive moment for Ford, which recently announced plans to launch 20 new models in the Brazilian market by 2027.
Therefore, even without official confirmation, the SUV is being closely watched by the Brazilian public.
Ford Bronco RTR Bets on Extreme Off-Road from the Ground Up
Unlike the Bronco Sport sold in Brazil, the Ford Bronco RTR uses a body-on-frame construction, a typical architecture of classic SUVs and essential for severe off-road use. This construction ensures greater torsional resistance, especially in trails, mud, sand, and rocky terrains.
According to the brand, the goal is to offer an off-road SUV capable of facing extreme situations without reaching the level – and price – of the Bronco Raptor.
The strategy has been confirmed by Haley Skiko, the brand manager in the U.S., stating that the RTR version will have “a starting price lower than the Raptor version,” broadening access to the model.
2.3 EcoBoost Turbo Engine Delivers Above-Average Performance
Under the hood, the Ford Bronco RTR features the 2.3 EcoBoost Turbo Engine, which delivers 300 hp and 45.4 kgfm of torque.
The setup works with a 10-speed automatic transmission, ensuring quick responses both on and off the pavement.
This performance places the model above direct rivals, such as the Jeep Wrangler, which offers 272 hp in its equivalent configuration.
Still, the RTR falls short of the Bronco Raptor, equipped with a 3.0 V6 twin-turbo engine producing 423 hp, maintaining a clear hierarchy within the lineup.
In addition, the new off-road SUV features an anti-lag system on the turbo, a technology that maintains turbocharger pressure even with variations in the accelerator.
In practice, this ensures immediate response in difficult terrains such as loose sand and deep mud.
Reinforced Suspension and Larger Tires Enhance Off-Road Capability
Another highlight of the Ford Bronco RTR is the suspension setup. For the first time, the Bronco comes from the factory with 33-inch all-terrain tires, while other versions use tires up to 30”. The suspension has received stiffer calibration, designed to absorb impacts without compromising control.
Furthermore, there will be an optional Sasquatch package, which elevates the technical level of the model.
This package adds 35-inch tires and the HOSS 3.0 system, with shock absorbers similar to those used in the F-150 Raptor.
This way, the off-road SUV approaches the performance of vehicles built for extreme trails.
The traction system offers 4×2, 4×4, and 4×4 low modes, in addition to front and rear differential locks, increasing capability in severe obstacles.
Exclusive Design Reinforces Identity of the Ford Bronco RTR
In terms of appearance, the Ford Bronco RTR debuts the new Avalanche Gray color, combined with lime green details and exclusive graphics on the body.
The 17-inch wheels complement the setup, while the front grille displays the name “Bronco” prominently, connecting the headlights through a unique illuminated piece.
Despite the complete presentation of the exterior, Ford has yet to release images of the interior of this version, keeping some mystery about the finishing and internal equipment.
Launch and Impact on the Future of the Ford Bronco in Brazil
The official opening of orders for the Ford Bronco RTR is scheduled for October 2026, with sales starting in January 2027.
Thus, the arrival of the RTR in the global market may influence future decisions of the brand for South America.
The Detroit Auto Show serves as a showcase to demonstrate that the Bronco remains one of Ford’s pillars in the off-road SUV segment.
