Brother of the Explorer EV and with a hint of Volkswagen, it will debut on the 10th of next month, with sales focused on Europe
Ford's long-awaited launch into the SUV segment is finally on its way. The Capri EV, which has been target of countless speculations and flagging, you will have your official reveal on July 10th. With sales scheduled for the end of the year, the commercial focus of the model will be the European market, following in the footsteps of the Explorer EV, its “brother” in the line, according to the Motor1 website.
The Capri SUV is the perfect fusion between Ford and Volkswagen!
The new Capri EV stands out for combining Ford's robustness with Volkswagen's advanced technology. Structurally, the vehicle will use the MEB platform, widely known and used by Volkswagen. In terms of powertrain, the Capri EV is expected to deliver around 300 hp of power and range of up to 500 km of autonomy. In addition, there will be rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive options, complemented by a DC fast charging system that promises to recharge the battery from 10% to 80% in just 25 minutes.
Visually, projections indicate that the Capri EV will follow a coupe style, with elegant lines and a design that harks back to the classic Escort and Capri of previous generations. The rear will feature a characteristic fit, while the front will sport a light signature in LEDs, as already anticipated in Ford teasers.

Technology and comfort in the SUV
Inside, the Capri EV promises to be a technology spectacle. The highlight is the 15-inch vertical central screen, equipped with the Ford Sync Move entertainment system. Furthermore, the floating digital instrument cluster will display essential driving information and battery charge levels. The vehicle's technological package will also include 12 ultrasonic sensors, 5 cameras and 3 radar devices integrated into the driver assistance systems, ensuring safe and efficient driving.
Like the Explorer EV, the Capri EV will be produced at the factory in Cologne, Germany, a place historically known for its production of the compact Fiesta until its discontinuation in July last year. This plant, now modernized, will be the production center for Ford's new SUV-coupe.
The Capri EV will enter a competitive market, facing rivals such as the Volkswagen ID.5, Skoda Enyaq, Smart #3, Volvo C40 Recharge, Nissan Ariya and Renault Mégane E-Tech. Each of these models has distinct characteristics, but the Capri EV promises to stand out for its unique combination of design, technology and performance.
Expectations and launch of Ford's new SUV

Ford is betting on a model that not only revives an iconic name, but also represents a significant advance in its electrification strategy. The Capri EV arrives with promise to redefine the segment, bringing a perfect blend of heritage, innovation and sustainability.
