Foresea Saves R$ 800 Thousand Annually with Digitization of Checklists in Drilling Rigs, Using Tablets to Attach Photos, Videos, and Audios, Generating Automated Data and Graphs.
Foresea saves approximately R$ 1 million per year through the digitization of its processes in drilling rigs. By using tablets to capture and attach photos, videos, and audios, the company is able to generate data and graphs in an automated manner. With this approach, Foresea not only reduces costs but also increases operational efficiency in data collection and analysis in its offshore operations. Digitization plays a crucial role in transforming the way the company handles daily tasks, resulting in a more agile and efficient process.
During its annual event, Foresea highlighted the importance of computerization in its Digital Sustainability strategy. The project involves the adoption of various digital technologies aimed at improving checklist processes across the fleet. From digitization to the implementation of electronic processes, the company is focused on optimizing operations and reducing environmental impacts. The transition to electronic and digital processes not only saves time but also provides greater accuracy and security in operations. This technological change reflects Foresea’s commitment to innovation and sustainability.
The ‘Digital Sustainability’ project involves the digitization of processes in the five drilling rigs of Foresea. This initiative, implemented across the fleet, has optimized employee time, streamlined data acquisition, accelerated interpretation and real-time trend recognition, in addition to a significant cost reduction, with an estimated savings of R$ 800 thousand per year. Before this implementation of the initiative, all reports generated in the drilling rigs were manually prepared by employees.

Computerization and Agility in Processes
Following the global trend of computerization, Foresea’s Sustainability Department promoted the digitization of the main checklists of the department on board, using tablets for filling in the checks and implementing tools to attach photos, videos, audios, and files. After eight months of using this technology, the ease provided by electronically filling in checklists and the agility in data consolidation led to the discontinuation of the old paper form-based system.
This project is part of Foresea’s ongoing effort to make its operations more sustainable, efficient, and safe, as highlighted by the Vice President of Sustainability, Marco Aurélio Fonseca. With the Digital Sustainability project, both onshore and offshore employees started to access and monitor all generated content in real time.
Digitization and In-Depth Analysis
The creation of dashboards allowed for detailed data analysis, enabling preventive and rapid actions to avoid accidents and incidents. The pilot project was launched in 2019 on the ODN I rig and completed ten months later, resulting in the digitization of all the company’s rigs (ODN I, ODN II, Norbe VI, Norbe VIII, and Norbe IX) and the operations base. With the implementation of digital processes, there was an improvement in document quality. The submission for approval became automated, allowing real-time data and graph generation.
Thus, it was possible to automate the flow of information, reducing possible errors in filling out forms and providing simultaneous trend data, as explained by the Executive Sustainability Manager, Carlos Junior, during his presentation of the case at ROG.e. He shared the success of the digitization project, which demonstrated significant improvements.
Foresea and Digital Sustainability
Foresea offers offshore drilling solutions with its fleet composed of the ODN I, ODN II, Norbe VI, Norbe VIII, and Norbe IX rigs, all fully operational. The company has international quality and efficiency certification APIQ2 for the entire fleet and holds the highest operational uptime rate in the market, excelling in deep and ultra-deep waters in the oil and gas upstream offshore industry in Brazil. Among its principles are high operational performance, respect for employee safety and the environment, in addition to strong partnerships and the trust of its clients.
Governance and Innovation Practices
The company adheres strictly to ESG principles, following the strictest environmental, social, and governance practices. This commitment is reflected in its operations and in the relationship with its stakeholders, demonstrating that innovation and sustainability can go hand in hand. The ‘Digital Sustainability’ project is a clear example of how digital technologies, computerization, and electronic processes can transform a company, making it more efficient and sustainable.
