The FPSO Anita Garibaldi Platform Is Part of Petrobras’ Project Aiming to Revitalize Oil and Natural Gas Production in the Marlim Field. The Vessel Has Arrived at the Jurong Aracruz Shipyard, Where It Will Undergo Commissioning Activities and Tests.

The revitalization project for oil and natural gas production in the Marlim Field, located in the Campos Basin, is successfully progressing. The FPSO Anita Garibaldi platform has arrived at the Jurong Aracruz Shipyard in Espírito Santo and will undergo commissioning activities, as well as operational tests and evaluations. Soon after, the vessel will head to the Marlim Field, where it is expected to start operations in the third quarter of 2023.

Petrobras Advances in the Revitalization Project for the Marlim Field with the Arrival of the FPSO Anita Garibaldi at the Jurong Aracruz Shipyard

Petrobras continues to make successful progress in the activities preceding the definitive start of the revitalization of oil and natural gas production in the Marlim Field, located in the Campos Basin.

This is because the FPSO Anita Garibaldi platform, the vessel responsible for the project’s operation, is already in Brazilian waters.

The ship is currently at the Jurong Aracruz Shipyard, located in the state of Espírito Santo. There, the FPSO will undergo commissioning activities, as well as regulatory inspections and operational tests.

After completing all tests at the Jurong Aracruz Shipyard, the Anita Garibaldi vessel will head towards the Campos Basin to await the start of production in the Marlim Field, expected in the third quarter of 2023.

The ship has the capacity to produce up to 80,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd) and process up to 7 million cubic meters of natural gas per day. To remember, the FPSO Anita Garibaldi is part of the Marlim and Voador Revitalization Project.

With its revitalization project for the Marlim Field, Petrobras aims to connect the new platform to 43 wells, with a production peak expected in 2026.

Thus, the FPSO Anita Garibaldi will join Anna Nery in replacing the nine platforms currently operating in the region, which are: P-18, P-19, P-20, P-26, P-32, P-33, P-35, P-37, and P-47.

In the production resumption project, Petrobras also aims to reduce carbon emissions associated with production in the areas by 60%, ensuring greater environmental commitment in its operations.

Learn More About the Jurong Aracruz Shipyard

The Jurong Aracruz Shipyard has been in Espírito Santo since 2011 to carry out a business model unprecedented in the State. With the advancement of oil exploration in the pre-salt layer, the expectations for investments in naval infrastructure made it necessary to create a shipyard suitable to meet the demands of this industry, which requires cutting-edge technology and quality products to carry out ambitious projects.

The structure offered by the shipyard is prepared to meet not only the demands of Petrobras but also the requirements of the global market in the manufacturing of vessels and jackets (basic structures of oil platforms), generating business for local suppliers, jobs and income for local workers, and revenue for Espírito Santo.

Learn More About the Campos Basin

The Campos Basin is Petrobras’ synthesis of innovation in deep and ultra-deep waters. With over 40 years of existence, it has not only introduced the most modern offshore technologies to the world.

Within it, Petrobras created a true floating city, which translates into one of the largest deepwater oil complexes in the industry. With 25 units in production, this basin covers an area that extends from Espírito Santo, near Vitória, to Arraial do Cabo, on the northern coast of Rio de Janeiro.
