The FPSO Arrived in Brazil This Monday, 26, After Traveling for More Than Two Months. The Purpose of the Platform’s Arrival Is the Continuation of a Petrobras Project in Angra dos Reis
The FPSO Anna Nery, a unit of Yinson, which will be allocated to the second module of the Petrobras project aimed at the revitalization of Marlim, arrived in Brazil this Monday, 26, and is already docked in the bay of Rio de Janeiro, where it will undergo customs clearance before proceeding to BrasFELS shipyard in Angra dos Reis.
As mentioned, the platform will proceed to the BrasFELS shipyard in Angra dos Reis, Rio de Janeiro, after being cleared by Brazilian authorities. The FPSO Anna Nery was converted by Yinson at the Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry shipyard, located in China. The works carried out on the platform took just over 2 years to complete, and the unit began its journey to Brazil in July.
The FPSO is scheduled to start its operations in early 2023 and will undergo the entire commissioning process at the Angra dos Reis shipyard.

FPSO Production Capacity
The FPSO will have a production capacity of 70,000 bpd, with the ability to compress 4 million m³/d of gas. Petrobras already has a license for the installation from Ibama and the implementation of the new system in Angra dos Reis.
The FPSO contract will be the first deal between Yinson and Petrobras, with Yinson participating in Rio Oil & Gas 2022 for the first time as an exhibitor.
Petrobras Decommissioning Operation
Petrobras has been making constant efforts in the decommissioning operation, keeping platforms both active and inactive. Additionally, there is an expectation that Petrobras will release a tender for the decommissioning of Marlim in Angra dos Reis in 2023.
The two new FPSOs will be connected to a total of 77 wells, of which 73 are from Marlim in Angra dos Reis and four from Voador. In total, there will be 45 producers and 32 injectors, with 44 connected to the FPSO Anita Garibaldi and 33 to the FPSO Anna Nery. Overall, the Marlim revitalization project will include 14 new wells and 63 relocated from production units that will be decommissioned.
The revitalization project for the field will require total investments of around R$ 70 billion. With the two FPSO units, Marlim will achieve a new production milestone of 150,000 bpd and 2 million m³/d of gas, a mark to be reached between 2025 and 2026.
Petrobras Project at Angra dos Reis Shipyard
In addition to the FPSO Anna Nery, the Marlim revitalization project will include the installation of another FPSO, the Anita Garibaldi, which was chartered by MODEC and allocated to module 1 of the system. The FPSO Anita Garibaldi has a production capacity of 80,000 bpd and recently left the DSIC – Dalian shipyard in China, with an operational start expected in 2023.
Following the same strategic line as Yinson, MODEC will also take the FPSO Anita Garibaldi to Brasfels in Angra dos Reis to carry out final commissioning activities before beginning operations for Petrobras.
The FPSOs Anna Nery and Anita Garibaldi will replace the nine units currently installed in the field. They are: P-33, P-26, P-32, P-37, P-18, P-19, P-20, P-35, and P-47. The revitalization project will encompass the installation of the two new FPSOs, associated with the decommissioning operation of the old UEPs.
