The Revitalization Project of Production in the Marlim Field, in the Campos Basin, Is in Full Swing and the DSIC Shipyard Delivered This Week the FPSO Anita Garibaldi, the Next Platform to Be Used by Petrobras in the Production of Fuels in the Area.
The Chinese shipyard Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Offshore (DSIC) has completed the delivery of the FPSO Anita Garibaldi platform, with the company Modec, which is responsible for supplying the vessel to Petrobras. The state-owned company is resuming the production of fuels in the Marlim Field, in the Campos Basin, at full speed after putting the first well into operation, and will use the FPSO next year in the exploration campaign.
FPSO Anita Garibaldi Completed and Delivered by DSIC Shipyard and Will Be Used in the Revitalization of the Marlim Field by Petrobras in 2023
Over the past week, the Chinese shipyard DSIC completed the project of the FPSO Anita Garibaldi and held the delivery ceremony of the vessel to the Chinese company Modec, which will conduct a charter agreement for the ship with the state-owned company Petrobras for the next 25 years.
Now, expectations are that the floating platform will arrive in Brazil by the end of the year for commissioning activities, and production on the vessel will begin in 2023 as part of the revitalization project of the Marlim Field, located in the Campos Basin.

The FPSO Anita Garibaldi is the second vessel to be used in the revitalization project of the Marlim and Voador fields by the state-owned company Petrobras. So far, the FPSO Anna Nery vessel has been completed, which left Chinese territory in July and is expected to arrive in Brazil by the end of October, according to predictions from the state company.
The Anita Garibaldi ship will have a total production capacity of 80,000 barrels per day and 7 million m³ per day of natural gas, while the FPSO Anna Nery will be able to produce 70,000 barrels daily and 4 million m³ of gas per day.
Together, Petrobras’ vessels for the revitalization project of the Marlim Field will be connected to a total of 75 wells and will allow for the extension of production from the field reserves until the year 2048. And with the new vessels and new production systems, Petrobras will achieve an expansion of current production in Marlim and Voador to over 150,000 barrels of oil per day over the next few years.
The State-Owned Company Started the Revitalization Campaign of the Marlim Field with the Start of Operations in the First Oil Well in Recent Weeks
At the beginning of August, the company Petrobras announced the start of oil production in the pre-salt zone of the Marlim Field, with well MLS-233, which is currently active in the company’s production campaign and began being used for fuel production on the 9th of the month.
The well has been producing an average volume of 12,000 bpd, still with controlled flow, and Petrobras is already monitoring the results of the asset.
The state-owned company is now analyzing the behavior of the well’s flow and, if the reservoir flow remains stable at the end of the initial analysis period over the next few months, there will be interconnection of at least two more pre-salt producing wells in the Marlim Sul field. This will guarantee an even greater expansion of productivity in the revitalization project of the area.
Thus, the start of operations of the FPSO Anita Garibaldi in 2023 will already be preceded by good results in the exploratory campaign.
