The Revitalization Project of the Marlim Field in the Campos Basin for the Resumption of Oil and Natural Gas Production in the Region Is Advancing, and the FPSO Anna Nery, Which Will Be Part of the Initiative, Has Left China and Is on Course for Brazil.

Last Friday, (08/07), the FPSO Anna Nery left the Cosco Qidong shipyard in China and began its journey to Brazil. The platform is the first in the revitalization project of the Marlim Field, located in the Santos Basin, and will be responsible for resuming oil and natural gas production activities in the region, as anticipated by Petrobras to take advantage of the area’s potential.

FPSO Anna Nery Begins Journey to Brazil for Revitalization Project of the Marlim Field and Oil and Natural Gas Production in the Campos Basin

This past week was quite significant for Petrobras and the oil and gas sector in Brazil, as the FPSO Anna Nery left the Cosco Qidong shipyard to start its journey to the national territory. The vessel is part of the revitalization project of the Marlim Field and will be essential for oil and natural gas production in the Campos Basin in the coming months.

However, the journey of the FPSO Anna Nery is just beginning until it reaches national territory, as the vessel will undergo tests in Chinese waters over the next two weeks. After this stage of the process, the vessel will proceed to its next stops, which will take place in the regions of Singapore and Mauritius, where it will refuel and change crew.

Thus, the platform is expected to arrive in national territory around October, for the beginning of acceptance tests regarding the oil production project in the Marlim Field.

In this way, the Brazilian state-owned company Petrobras, which is leading the revitalization project in the Campos Basin, commented on the arrival of the FPSO platform and highlighted the vessel’s relevance: “The FPSO was chartered by Petrobras from the company Yinson and has an All Electric concept, which maximizes the use of electric energy for powering the unit’s equipment, contributing to a lower level of carbon emissions compared to other project design concepts.”

This Will Be the First Vessel for the Revitalization Project of the Marlim Field and Oil and Natural Gas Production in the Region

The anticipation for the arrival of the FPSO Anna Nery in Brazil is growing in the oil and gas sector, as the vessel is the first in the revitalization project of the Marlim Field and will contribute to the resumption of production in the Campos Basin. For this, the vessel was chartered by the state-owned oil company Petrobras and, over the next few years, will have the capacity to produce 70,000 barrels of oil and process 4 million m³ of gas.

Currently, the Marlim Field produces about 30,000 barrels of oil per day, and Petrobras intends to significantly expand this production in the coming years, with plans to begin exploration of the region with the FPSO Anna Nery as early as next year.

Thus, the FPSO Anna Nery and the second vessel that will be part of the project, the FPSO Anita Garibaldi, will be connected to 75 wells and will allow the extension of production from the field’s reserves until 2048.

Petrobras is now awaiting the FPSO Anna Nery to complete all the planned tests in Chinese waters and reach national territory in the coming months to accelerate the revitalization project of the Marlim Field.
