French Company Develops Compressed Air System To Store Renewable Energy In Homes. Lithium-Free Technology Reaches 70% Efficiency And Is Beneficial To The Environment

Storing clean energy without using batteries or generating toxic waste is already possible. The REMORA Home, developed by SEGULA Technologies, presents a new way to store electricity from renewable sources. The idea is simple: transform excess solar or wind energy into compressed air and reuse it later.

This system is aimed at homes with solar panels or wind turbines. When there is greater production than consumption, the generated energy is not wasted. Instead, it is converted and securely stored until it is needed.

No Batteries, No Lithium

The difference with the REMORA Home is in the technology used. It does not rely on conventional batteries, which involve chemical reactions and heavy metals.

The system operates through a patented isothermal process that compresses air with excess energy. When less production occurs — for example, on cloudy days or without wind — this compressed air is released to generate electricity.

The technology does not emit polluting gases and does not produce hazardous waste. This makes REMORA a cleaner and safer alternative compared to battery-based systems.

Two Main Components

The equipment consists of two parts. The first is a reversible compressor, the size of a thermos bottle. It can be installed in any room of the house.

The second is a compressed air tank, which safely stores the air. This tank can be placed inside or outside the residence, depending on the available space.

This simple structure facilitates installation. It can be placed in houses, garages, or basements, without complicated construction or major adaptations.

The Energy Storage System Is Controlled By App

The new energy storage system comes with a mobile app. With it, the user can monitor energy consumption and find ways to save.

It is also possible to integrate the system with the household appliances. This makes the use of energy more efficient and personalized.

The app allows:

  • Track energy usage in real-time;
  • Reduce the electricity bill;
  • Receive saving tips;
  • Control system operation remotely.

High Efficiency And Long Lifespan

With 70% efficiency and a minimum lifespan of 30 years, the REMORA Home energy storage system stands out among energy storage options.

Unlike battery systems that need to be replaced frequently, this solution promises durability and stable performance for decades.

Moreover, the materials used — such as steel and aluminum — are recyclable, which further reduces the environmental impact of the product.

Testing And Launch Forecast

Since January 2024, the REMORA Home has been in advanced laboratory testing phases. The results confirm that the system can already store and release energy in volumes suitable for an average household.

During 2025, the SEGULA Technologies team will focus on optimizing efficiency. In 2026, the first pilot projects in real homes are planned. If everything goes as planned, large-scale production will begin in 2028.

Impact And Applications Of The Energy Storage System

The REMORA Home is more than a product for home use. It represents a new approach to renewable energy. Its application can help to:

  • Reduce fossil fuel use;
  • Strengthen more decentralized power grids;
  • Increase the autonomy of rural communities;
  • Reduce pressure on resources such as lithium.

This technology also demonstrates that producing clean energy is only part of the solution. Storing this energy efficiently is essential to harness its full potential.

The experience with the REMORA Home reveals important lessons. Having solar or wind energy is good, but without a good storage system, a lot of energy is lost.

Another lesson is that not all green technology is equally sustainable. Avoiding the use of toxic or hard-to-dispose-of products is essential.

Finally, household control of energy consumption is becoming increasingly relevant. Homes that produce, store, and manage their energy help to build a more modern and resilient power grid.

The REMORA Home shows how engineering can create clean, useful, and durable solutions for the homes of the future.
