After the IPVA exemption for app drivers who use CNG, the governor of MT says that the Bolivian Gas Pipeline project could make gas cheaper and sell it to low-income families

According to the governor of MT, Mauro Mendes, the extension project for the Bolivian gas pipeline should arrive close to Atacadão in the Tijucal district, in Cuiabá, and will reduce the cost of CNG for residents of the region. In addition, through the installation of the Bolivian gas pipeline, doors may be opened to other possibilities such as, for example, social gas, for bottling cooking gas and selling CNG at popular prices to low-income families.

Governor talks about the Bolivian Gas Pipeline project

According to Mauro, the gas pipeline project in Bolivia is already ready and should go out for bidding. On Wednesday (11) Mauro said that the government of MT has already contracted the project, the company has already delivered it and should already be preparing the bidding phase to contract and implement the network, not only as far as the district, but Atacadão do Tijucal.

According to the governor, what will allow low-income families to get CNG cheaper is the elimination of the compression and decompression regime process, which ends up making it even more expensive. Currently, CNG is already much cheaper than any other fuel source.

MT government invests BRL 13 million in gas pipeline

In March, the Government of MT ordered the company Lima e Torres Engenharia to start the gas pipeline project in the Industrial District of Cuiabá. In total, approximately R$ 13 million will be invested. In addition to CNG for low-income families, cooking gas is also being studied through the project.

According to Mauro, these are studies that MT Gás is carrying out, but there is still nothing concrete, just possibilities. The government of MT, according to the governor, closed a ten-year contract for the supply of CNG.

The authority established a commercial relationship that the state was never able to do, a firm contract and from now on it will move towards other possibilities, but these are still studies that are being developed within the scope of MT Gás.

ALMT approves IPVA exemption for CNG-powered app drivers' cars

In addition to the possibility of lowering the price of CNG for low-income families, on the 11th of that month, the plenary of the Legislative Assembly of Mato Grosso, unanimously approved the PL authored by state deputy Wilson Santos (PSDB) that authorizes the governor to grant the IPVA exemption for vehicles with MT license plates powered by CNG that belong to app drivers or their spouses.

Deputy Wilson Santos highlighted the advantages of using vehicular natural gas, which in addition to being a clean source of energy, recalled that in the current economic crisis, in which the price of ethanol and gasoline are readjusted at all times, the exemption from IPVA to app drivers who use CNG is a social achievement.
