The Recruitment Startup, GeekHunter, Also Points Out That The Estimate Is That More Than 15 Thousand Jobs In Technology Will Be Opened In 2022
The technology sector showed a rapid recovery after the impacts of the pandemic. According to GeekHunter, last year the number of open job positions in the technology field increased by 136% compared to 2020, with over 90% being for remote work. Hiring rates increased by 182%.
Based on these results, it can be proven that the technology sector is the one that has been recovering and generating the most job openings. The estimate is that only on GeekHunter’s platform, more than 15 thousand job positions will be opened throughout this year.
According to the CEO and founder of GeekHunter, Tomás Ferrari, “Today, traditional companies and various areas such as marketing and sales, whose core business is not technology, have increased their demands and also see the need to have developers on their teams to support their digital transformation.” Thus, IT professionals who were previously restricted to technology companies have started to be even more sought after by other sectors, creating even more demand.

Despite the large number of job openings, the technology market still faces a labor shortage, which results in higher average salaries for technology professionals.
According to the Jornal Contábil, developers specialized in Back-end saw the largest increase in average monthly salaries last year, with salaries exceeding R$ 7,7 thousand, equivalent to 10.03%. Following that are Full Stack, with an increase of 8.67%, Mobile with 5.58%, data science with 3.25%, and Front-end with 2.83%. Remote Job Openings and Demand For The English Language
The GeekHunter survey showed that more than 90% of the job openings in technology last year were for home office positions. In 2019, only 25% of job openings accepted remote work. Another survey conducted by GeekHunter indicated that 55% of professionals would resign if the company did not maintain the remote modality, which was adopted on a large scale during the pandemic.
According to the CEO, remote work is no longer a matter of choice for companies, but rather for candidates. If companies do not adapt to this new scenario, they face significant challenges in attracting top talent and are limited to a small pool that is available for on-site job openings. The remote model also increases the chances of finding good professionals regardless of their location.
GeekHunter also pointed out an increase in demand for professionals with proficiency in the English language at intermediate and fluent levels. The company emphasizes that with home office, job openings for positions abroad have also expanded and, consequently, English has become essential.
