Gerdau Graphene Developed The First Water-Based Real Estate Paint With Graphene, Which Can Be Applied In Sports Courts, Stairways, Sidewalks, Leisure Areas, And Many Other Places.
Gerdau Graphene, a company focused on the development, commercialization, and production of mineral chemical additives and masterbatches with graphene, launched its first chemical additive for the paint market. The material is present in C-Fix, a new real estate paint developed by Gerdau Graphene, the first commercially available water-based paint with graphene in the world. The product is the result of a partnership with the Graffex factory and Polystell, companies focused on the research and development of chemical additives.
Gerdau’s Real Estate Paint Can Be Used In Various Locations
Developed with the exclusive G2D technology, the new paint features improved washability and can be applied on concrete floors, metals, cement, and asphalt, traffic areas, as well as being used in sports courts, sidewalks, stairways, leisure areas, bike lanes, commercial floors, among others.
The company’s Research and Development team created this new real estate paint technology based on a graphene formulation, incorporated into the paint additive. According to Alexandre de Toledo Corrêa, executive director of Gerdau Graphene, one year after its foundation, the company is bringing its first set of products with embedded graphene to market.

Imagine a building that absorbs air pollution, regenerates itself, and becomes more resilient with each passing year: scientists from ETH Zurich have just turned this idea into reality using cyanobacteria and 3D printing.
This is the world’s first water-based real estate paint that uses graphene on a commercial scale. And, at the same time, the company is launching its first chemical additive made with graphene for paints into the market.
Currently, the company has a robust research pipeline for the application of graphene in paints, and the C-Fix real estate line and its paints are the first products to bring graphene to market.
New Products From Gerdau Graphene Will Arrive Soon In The Market
In addition to the graphene real estate paint, the company is working on a second line of additives for use in anti-corrosive paints, which will hit the market as early as next year. According to the executive, the industry in this sector is currently very concerned with gaining sustainability and productivity, eliminating fossil-based materials from its formulation.
The use of graphene in anti-corrosive paints will serve the dual purpose of delivering performance through a sustainable material like this. The paint market presents great potential for the use of graphene additives.
In Brazil, R$ 25.7 billion were generated last year alone, equivalent to 1.9 billion liters of paint. Of that total, R$ 14 billion and 1.5 billion are real estate paints. The new paint from Gerdau was used for the first time in the painting of part of the Gerdau special steels unit in SP.
The intent is to expand the use of this product to all the company’s units in the country throughout this year. The floor paint is more resistant to abrasion and creates a barrier against moisture, resulting in better washing conditions.
Company Closes Deals With Strategic Clients
In addition to meeting the demands of its industrial units, the company is already selling its paint to external clients. According to Corrêa, agreements have been made with the company’s strategic clients in the construction and industrial sectors for the use of the C-Fixx line.
Throughout its 121 years of history, Gerdau has the support of key clients in the construction sector to develop innovative products with steel, and now, these same clients are supporting the company in the nanotechnology market.
