More than 2 thousand families benefited
The main source of income for residents of the region is fishing, which is also an economic, cultural and urban mobility attraction. In the municipality alone, around 2 families benefit.
According to the government of Maranhão, the new ports will offer the community up-to-date equipment, where the model of leisure area architecture is present in large cities.
Maranhão government ports promise not only to generate jobs, but also leisure
The construction includes a wooden deck, cement cladding and rubber flooring, pergolas, a tree-lined area with a wire fence and the construction of a middle and new asphalt paving. In addition, the entire waterproofing system and electrical and hydraulic installations will be installed. The venues will have leisure spaces, with an outdoor gym and children's recreational toys.
The deadline for completion of construction in Maranhão is 6 months. The revitalization of the ports will help in the flow of fishermen's production, according to the state government. In addition to fish, the municipality is also well known for its market of oysters, sururu and sarnambi, specialties of Maranhão cuisine.
Maranhão expands Port of Itaqui for fuel distribution
In April, Ultrapar stated that construction will be carried out in the port of Itaqui. It is a new terminal with a static capacity of at least 79 m³ in the leased area for the distribution of fuels in the Port of Itaqui, in the capital of Maranhão, São Luís. Port operations will start after 5 years from the contract date.
For this to happen, the company's investment must be at least R$ 310 million. Also according to Ultracargo, a subsidiary of Ultrapar, the investment for the construction of the terminal is directly linked to the company's profitability and expansion strategy.
The company claims that the Port of Itaqui has a strategic location for the distribution of fuels in Brazil, where Ultracargo already commands the activities of a terminal of more than 100 m³. Therefore, the terminal to be built in Maranhão will be interconnected to the current one, giving customers greater flexibility in transporting fuel.
