Most Opportunities Are in the Metropolitan Region and the Services Sector, With Positions Including Formal Employment, Internships, and Young Apprentice Programs in Companies of Different Sizes in Rio de Janeiro

The Government of the State of Rio de Janeiro is announcing, this week in November 2025, 2,559 job, internship, and young apprentice positions for those seeking reemployment or their first opportunity in the job market.

The opportunities were gathered by the State Secretariat for Labor and Income through the National Employment System (Sine).

Of the total, 1,311 positions are for formal employment with a signed contract, while 1,248 opportunities are aimed at internships and young apprentice programs, in partnership with the Mudes Foundation and CIEE.

The positions are concentrated mainly in the Metropolitan Region of Rio, but also reach cities in the Mountain Region and the Médio Paraíba, covering different education levels and salary ranges.

Experts highlight that this volume reinforces a movement of recovery in the job market of Rio, while also demonstrating the need for constant qualification and updating of candidates to meet the companies’ requirements.

Where Are the Job Positions with a Signed Contract in RJ

The majority of the job positions in RJ are concentrated in the Metropolitan Region, which accounts for 949 formal positions, equivalent to about 72% of the jobs with a signed contract. In these roles, salaries typically range from one to three minimum wages, reaching approximately R$ 4,554, depending on the position and the hiring company.

Highlighted roles in the region include cook, telemarketing operator, and receptionist, which usually require previous experience. For the cook position, a complete elementary education is generally required, while a telemarketing operator usually asks for complete high school education, reflecting the hiring profile of the Services sector.

In the Médio Paraíba, which includes municipalities like Volta Redonda, Valença, Barra do Piraí, and Rio das Flores, 75 formal positions have been identified. In these cities, average salaries range from one to two minimum wages, but more specialized roles, such as plumber, pharmacist, and gas cutter, can reach bands between two and three minimum wages.

The Mountain Region comprises 287 job positions in roles such as production line assistant, gardener, truck driver, and treasury supervisor. Compensation in this case usually varies between one and two minimum wages, depending on the position and the company’s size.

Another relevant point is the offering of 135 positions exclusively for people with disabilities (PwD), distributed across different fields and salary ranges, reinforcing the importance of productive inclusion of this group in the labor market of Rio.

Sectors, Education, and Experience Requirements for Job Positions in RJ

According to the Labor Observatory of the State Secretariat for Labor and Income, most opportunities are directly linked to the Services sector, which accounts for about 64.5% of the positions, followed by Commerce, with approximately 35.5%.

When analyzing the education level, the data indicates that 46.1% of the positions require complete high school education, while 36.1% require complete elementary education, showing a predominance of operational and public service roles.

Another noteworthy statistic is that more than 70% of the positions require prior experience, which can be an obstacle for those trying to secure their first job or returning to the market after a period of absence. According to the Observatory, approximately 71.7% of opportunities require some prior experience in the role.

Nevertheless, the state government emphasizes that there is room for those starting their careers. In various regions, there are positions that do not require experience, in roles such as fast-food attendant, loading and unloading assistant, and logistics assistant, which opens a door for workers seeking their first formal opportunity.

Specialists in the job market assess that the scenario shows a contrast: while there is a large volume of vacancies, the requirement for experience and minimum education remains an important filter, reinforcing the need for professional qualification and ongoing updates to resumes.

How to Register at Sine RJ and Consult the Job Panel

To apply for the job openings in RJ announced by the State Government, it is essential to keep the registration updated in the Sine, a public system that matches the candidate’s profile with the opportunities registered by employers.

The interested worker should attend a Sine unit bringing an identification document, work card, CPF, and PIS/PASEP/NIT/NIS number. After registering or updating the registration, the candidate will be directed to compatible jobs based on their education, experience, and location.

Detailed information about the available positions in the state of Rio de Janeiro can be accessed through the Interactive Job Panel, hosted on the official website of the Secretary of Labor and Income, at rj.gov.br/trabalho, which compiles opportunities by region, salary range, education level, and type of contract.

Internship and Young Apprentice Programs by Mudes and CIEE in Rio de Janeiro

Those seeking internship positions in RJ or wishing to start as a young apprentice are also included in this announcement. In partnership with the Secretary of Labor and Income, the Mudes Foundation and CIEE offer 1,248 opportunities for students and young people in training.

The Mudes Foundation offers 184 internship positions for levels Higher Education, Secondary, and Technical, across various fields. Applications are made online, directly on the official website of the institution, making it easier for candidates from different regions of the state to access.

The CIEE provides 1,064 positions that include internships and opportunities for young apprentices, aimed at students from different education levels. Registration is done through the entity’s portal, which also offers guidance on job profiles, necessary documentation, and preparation for selection processes.

According to the partnering institutions, these internship and apprenticeship programs play a strategic role in the insertion of young people into the formal job market, allowing them to gain paid experience while continuing their studies.

For specialists in youth employability, the combination of formal positions, internships, and young apprentice programs helps reduce school dropout rates and increases the chances of building a more stable professional trajectory, especially in a state that still faces high rates of informality and unemployment among young people.
