This Thursday (8), the Government of Pernambuco (PE) announced the opening of thousands of slots for free courses. In total, there will be 3,919 slots for courses in Spanish, English, and French, which will be offered at the Language Study Centers (NEL) throughout the state. It is important to note that the slots will be filled based on priority for public school students and the general public.

According to the State Secretary of Education, for public school students wishing to compete for the slots in the free courses, registration will begin on July 26 and end on July 28. For the general public, registrations for the courses in Spanish, English, and French will take place on July 29. The classes for the Government of PE’s free courses will start on August 9.
The free courses will have a duration of two years, and the workload is 280 hours/year. The opportunity will be offered in person; however, there is a possibility of hybrid or remote classes, depending on the specifications of each teacher and class.

How to Register for Free Courses in PE?
Due to the worsening pandemic, registrations for the free courses in Spanish, English, and French will be conducted online, and each language center has a specific link. One of the requirements is to be at least 13 years old.
At the time of registration, public school students must have a photo ID, proof of school enrollment, and proof of residence.
Others will need to register with proof of residence and an identity document. It is important to note that any slots for the free courses in PE that are not filled on the proposed days will be available at the educational units offering free courses on July 30. After completing the registration, the participant will receive a confirmation email with the request for the previously mentioned documentation.
