The Pernambuco government recently announced a new financing line aimed at industries located in the Araripe gypsum hub. This initiative aims to boost the economic development of the region by encouraging the use of natural gas as a sustainable energy source.
Entrepreneurs interested in obtaining this financing will be able to count on the support of the Pernambuco Entrepreneurship Agency (AGE) to acquire the necessary equipment for the energy transition. With this financial assistance, industries will be able to invest in modernizing their operations and strengthening their activities, contributing to the sector’s growth and job creation in the region.
Financing Line for Modernization of Gypsum Industries in Araripe
In the Sertão region, gypsum producers in Araripe can benefit from a special financing line offered by the Pernambuco government. This initiative aims to enable local industries to upgrade their equipment and use a more sustainable energy matrix based on natural gas. This change is essential for the economic development of the region, ensuring environmental preservation and job generation sustainably.

The Government’s Incentive for Sustainable Economic Development
Since the beginning of Governor Raquel Lyra’s administration, the state government has been committed to bringing natural gas to Araripe. The works for the implementation of gas are expected to begin in the second half of 2024, with the arrival of natural gas to the hub estimated for the first half of 2025. This project is part of the government’s commitment to boosting regional economic development, exploring local potential and promoting sustainability.
Financial Support for Industrial Modernization
The financing line offered by the Pernambuco government, through the Pernambuco Entrepreneurship Agency (AGE), aims to support the gypsum industries of Araripe in acquiring the necessary equipment for utilizing natural gas. Entrepreneurs can obtain up to R$ 1 million in credit, with a competitive interest rate of 0.7% per month, thanks to the equalization provided by the INOVAR fund. The repayment period is up to 36 months, with a grace period of six months.
Positive Impact on Regional Development
The president of AGE, Angela Mochel, emphasizes the importance of this financing for the industrial sector and for the development of the region. The initiative aims to ensure the sustainability of projects, boosting the modernization of industries and promoting a change in the energy matrix. With the ICMS exemption for natural gas in the region, companies in Araripe will have better conditions to carry out this energy transition more accessibly and efficiently.
