The R$ 340 million debt of the Government of Pernambuco with the Netherlands has been fully settled, while the R$ 140 million will be directed towards the resumption of the dredging work at the Port of Suape.
Royal Van Oord was the executing company of the project that was alongside the Netherlands State with an open process for compensation from the Brazilian state.

Completion of the Dredging Project at the Port of Suape Will Open Great Opportunities for Port Enterprises in the State, Says Government
Governor Paulo Câmara commented on the positive effects and consequences that the dredging project at the Port of Suape will bring to the state in the future, emphasizing the potential for new business in the complex.
“This project was a liability and needed to be resolved. Suape will reach a level with a depth that will make a difference in the operation of the Refinery and in other activities, such as iron ore that will have a new terminal, the work of Maersk, providing full operational conditions. It is an important achievement in light of everything we’ve seen happen in the economy in recent years,” he commented.
The President of the Suape Industrial Port Complex, Roberto Gusmão, revealed that they are only waiting for the authorization from the Port Authority to start the project, which should continue later this month.
Finally, the Brazil Director of Royal Van Oord, Erick Aeck, highlighted that the dredging project should level the port’s depth to 20 meters, thus ensuring the possibility for even larger ships to conduct cargo operations in the Pernambuco complex.
