The Government of Santa Catarina, through the State Department of Education, announced the intensification of the offer of technical vacancies throughout the state within the Santa Catarina Technical Program, CaTec+. In total, there will be 50 thousand opportunities in vocational courses, with a new round of choices open until 6 PM on December 10 directly at state schools that still have available spots.
With 35 thousand vacancies in partnership with institutions and 15 thousand in the state education network, the initiative reinforces the policy of Professional and Technological Education and seeks to align education with the real labor needs of Santa Catarina companies. Only in November, 19.7 thousand vacancies have already been offered, and about 30 thousand students are enrolled in technical courses at public schools and partner institutions in Santa Catarina.
CaTec+ Expands the Offer of Technical Education in Santa Catarina
CaTec was created in 2024 and is now identified by the Government of Santa Catarina as one of the main gateways for youth into the labor market. The proposal is for students to complete high school already with a technical certification, increasing their chances of immediate insertion into the job market.

According to the State Secretary of Education, Luciane Bisognin Ceretta, the expansion of classes directly responds to the demands of the Santa Catarina productive sector.
She emphasizes that Santa Catarina has a strong and diversified economy, requiring qualified workers.
By direction of Governor Jorginho Mello, CaTec has been adjusted to align with the specific needs of each region of the state, bringing school and employment even closer.
How to Secure One of the Technical Vacancies in the New Round
The second round of vacancies for CaTec+ is open until 6 PM on December 10 and operates on a first-come, first-served basis.
The student interested in one of the technical vacancies needs to go directly to the school unit where there are still available spots and register in person.
To enroll, it is necessary to present the academic and personal documentation required by the state network. In the case of technical courses concurrent with high school, the student must provide proof of attendance or completion of high school grade.
For subsequent courses, a high school completion transcript is required, and for integrated offerings, a fundamental education completion transcript is needed.
Basic personal documents include RG, CPF, birth certificate or marriage certificate, and proof of residence in the name of the student or responsible party.
It is also necessary to submit documents from the legal guardian for minors under 18 years, as well as a voter registration card for those over 18 years, and proof of military service exemption for men over 18 years.
The state network also advises presenting accessory documents, such as the Work Card number, SUS card, vaccination card, and proof of vaccination against Covid 19, in addition to the signed enrollment form, available on the official enrollment portal.
The school is responsible for analyzing all documentation and deciding whether or not to finalize the enrollment in the technical vacancies.
Youth with a Step Ahead in the Job Market
The impact of the technical vacancies from CaTec+ is already visible in the trajectory of students from the state network. Priscila Guadalupe dos Santos completed high school in 2024 at EEB Nossa Senhora da Conceição, in São José, taking a technical course in Administration through the program. Shortly after graduation, she secured an internship thanks to her technical certification.
Priscila reports feeling more confident in interviews and better prepared for daily professional life.
In her assessment, CaTec gives youth a step ahead compared to those who have not had contact with technical training and enter the job market without knowing exactly what to expect from the position.
The student also states that the experience in the Administration course helped define her choice for the field in higher education, as she realized it was a broad area with possibilities in different sectors.
Cases like Priscila’s are used by the government to demonstrate how technical vacancies can translate into income, autonomy, and future prospects for the youth of Santa Catarina.
Education Taken Seriously and the Technical Education Policy for SC
The expansion of technical vacancies in CaTec+ is part of the Education Taken Seriously program, presented by the Government of Santa Catarina as the largest investment package in the history of education in the state.
In total, R$ 4.1 billion is allocated to four main action axes: Good School, Qualifies SC, Transforms SC, and CaTec+.
These fronts include actions ranging from improving school infrastructure to valuing and providing continued training for teachers, as well as enhancing learning and expanding technical and vocational education.
The idea is for courses to always align with regional productive arrangements, creating a cycle where school prepares for work and work strengthens local development.
Within this strategy, the State Department of Education concluded in August the development of the Professional and Technological Education Policy for the Santa Catarina Territory.
This document organizes the offer of technical education in Santa Catarina, guiding the opening of technical vacancies in line with the demands of the productive sector and aiming to prepare youth for quality jobs in all regions.
Also included in the package are programs such as Free University and Fumdesc, which offer access and retention in higher education in exchange for students’ commitments, with the potential to generate significant impacts on the socioeconomic development of the state.
And you, are you already keeping an eye on the technical vacancies in CaTec+ or do you know any student who could get a step ahead in the job market with this opportunity in Santa Catarina?
