Initiative of the Government of Rio Grande do Norte May Generate a 46% Economy for the Institution

The Government’s initiative promises to generate a 46% economy on the active consumption of electricity in the building, which is located in the Administrative Center. The partnership between the Departments of Infrastructure and State Administration enabled the bidding process for the contracting of the company that will be responsible for the implementation of the system and the solar panels.

The first stage of the bidding process took place on June 1 of this month, when the envelopes containing all the necessary documentation for the qualification of the participating entities were delivered and opened.

According to Iuri Filgueira, electrical engineer and also coordinator of Electrifications at SIN, solar energy is electricity that is generated directly by solar panels that capture sunlight during the day. According to him, the system provides for a reduction in the environmental impacts caused, and also represents significant savings, reducing the amounts on the electricity bill of the units where it is installed.

Government of Rio Grande do Norte Project Will Save R$ 13,006.36 in the First Month of Use

At the School of Government, the solar energy system will be installed above the master auditorium of the building, which corresponds to an area of about 1,572 square meters. According to Filgueira, the solar panels are expected to generate 268 kWp and will be able to save, in a single month, the minimum amount of R$ 13,006.36, totaling approximately R$ 156,076.08 per year.

In addition to these benefits, the return on investment time for the Government of Rio Grande do Norte in solar energy is projected to be up to five years. This economy is about 46% of the institution’s monthly energy consumption, and this value is not higher only due to the shaded areas of the headquarters, which prevent the solar panels from generating more energy.

Secretary of Administration Comments on the New Project

According to Virgínia Ferreira, Secretary of Administration, the solar energy project, adopted by Sead, goes far beyond savings, as it also contributes to raising awareness and consciousness among people about environmental preservation.

The Secretary believes that the initiative of Rio Grande do Norte is an example and proves the importance of projects that preserve natural resources. Ferreira states that it is the duty of public managers to promote the use of new clean sources.
