Regulation Published in the Official Gazette of the Union This Friday (21) Officializes the Opening of a Public Competition with 50 Vacancies for Professors and 60 for Technical Positions at the New ITA Campus in Ceará. Construction Started in 2024 Has a Total Investment Estimated at R$ 180 Million, with Classes Expected to Start in 2027.

The Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services published, this Friday (21), the regulation that officially authorizes the public competition for the Aeronautics Institute of Technology (ITA in Ceará), the first unit outside the state of São Paulo. The document provides for the hiring of 110 new employees, including 50 for the position of higher education professor and 60 for specialized technical functions.

The authorization of this competition represents a historic advancement in strengthening technological education in the Northeast, bringing to Ceará a renowned institution known for training some of the most recognized engineers and researchers in the country. The competition is an important step in the federal government’s plan to decentralize centers of technological excellence across Brazil.

Detailed Distribution of Vacancies and Competition Schedule

According to the regulation MGI No. 2.091, published in the Official Gazette of the Union on March 21, 2025, the 110 vacancies are divided into different professional categories. There will be 50 vacancies exclusively for the position of higher education professor (complete higher education). For specialized technical functions, there will be 20 vacancies for technologists (complete higher education), 15 vacancies for researchers (complete higher education), and another 25 vacancies for the position of technician I (intermediate level).

The schedule defined by the federal government indicates that the official notice of the competition will be published by September of this year, and the exams should take place no later than November 2025. The approved candidates will start working at the new ITA campus in Ceará after the final results of the competition, with classes expected to begin in 2027, as highlighted by the Minister of Education, Camilo Santana, in a statement to the newspaper Diário do Nordeste.

Investments and Progress of Construction at the ITA Ceará Campus

The creation of the ITA campus in Ceará is part of a series of significant investments by the federal government aimed at technological education in Brazil’s Northeast. The construction, which began in September 2024, is already advanced and represents an estimated financial investment of R$ 180 million.

According to official information from the Ministry of Education released by Diário do Nordeste, the first phase of the construction received funding of approximately R$ 71 million. Currently, the project is in the second phase of construction, in which about R$ 104 million will be invested to complete the facilities. It is expected that the entire campus will be ready by 2026, allowing for the start of academic activities in 2027.

Historical Importance and Decentralization of Technological Education in Brazil

Founded in 1950, the Aeronautics Institute of Technology is considered one of the most prestigious institutions of technological higher education in Brazil, being internationally recognized for training aerospace engineers and conducting advanced scientific research. Traditionally based in São José dos Campos, in the state of São Paulo, the opening of the Ceará campus represents a historic decentralization of access to this level of educational excellence.

Data from the Ministry of Education, released by the newspaper Diário do Nordeste, underscores that this expansion will meet a growing demand for qualified professionals in the aerospace and technological sectors throughout the Northeast. This way, ITA in Ceará has the potential to become a regional and national hub for talents interested in technical and scientific careers.

Next Steps and Future Expectations

The current expectation is for the full announcement of the public notice, scheduled to be published by September of this year, when all details regarding requirements, salaries, stages, and timelines of the competition will be known. Those interested in participating should keep an eye on the upcoming official announcements made by the federal government and the specialized press.

With ITA in Ceará, the federal government seeks to promote a true technological transformation in the Northeast region, aligning itself with the national strategy for economic and social development based on scientific and technological innovation.
