The Norwegian Shipbuilder Havyard Delivered a Sixth Anchor Handling Vessel to the Brazilian Shipping Company Grupo CBO.
Havyard said on Friday that the outcome of the cooperation with CBO is reliable and economical vessels, adapted to Brazilian conditions with greater width and deck capacity. A total of six Havyard 843 Anchor Handling Tug Supply (AHTS) vessels have already been delivered to the Brazilian shipping company. The contract for four ships was signed in 2014 and an agreement for two more in 2016. The contracts with the Brazilian shipping company resulted from Havyard increasing its focus on the South American market starting in 2011.
The first contract between Grupo CBO and Havyard was, at the time, the largest individual contract signed by Havyard Design & Solutions, with an approximate value of NOK 180 million (US $ 21.6 million at current exchange rates). The deal for the two additional vessels was valued at over NOK 80 million (US $ 9.63 million at current rates).
The CEO of Havyard Group, Geir Johan Bakke, said: “The cooperation with Grupo CBO has been extremely educational and exciting. Through good communication and mutual understanding with CBO, we have been able to deliver a product that both parties are very satisfied with.”
