Have You Ever Imagined Buying Your New Car With Soy or Corn? This Is the Proposal From Toyota, Which Is Exchanging the Models: Hilux, SW4, and Corolla Cross for Commodities.
The sales model is already available in the states of Bahia, Mato Grosso, Goiás, Piauí, Minas Gerais, and Tocantins. In addition to credit and debit cards, Toyota announced on Wednesday (04) that it will also accept soy and corn as payment methods. This is a new business model for direct sales, where models such as Hilux, Corolla Cross, and SW4 can be exchanged for soy and corn that were harvested, necessarily, in Brazil.

Toyota Follows in the Footsteps of Stellantis
The novelty of the automaker’s exchange has been named Toyota Barter and is similar to the Barter Trade already presented in May of this year by Stellantis. In this case, the pickups that could be exchanged for soy would be the RAM 1500, Fiat Toro, and Strada, along with the SUVs Jeep Renegade and Compass. Returning to Toyota’s case, the exchange of soy and corn for the Hilux, Corolla Cross, or SW4 will be done through NovaAgri, which will be responsible for collecting and validating customer data and also confirming that the soy and corn are indeed Brazilian, in addition to assessing the market value of the bags.
It is also worth mentioning that before allowing the purchase of the Hilux, Corolla Cross, or SW4, Toyota will verify the environmental production certificates of the interested party to ensure it is negotiating with a sustainable individual or company.

Learn About Stellantis Barter Trade
Three months ago, Stellantis also launched its vehicle sales model known as Barter Trade. The group accepts, just like Toyota, soy grains from rural producers for the purchase of vehicles from its brands such as Fiat, RAM, and Jeep. According to Stellantis, the exchange will involve the value of the desired car, insurance, acquisition of the asset, pricing of the agricultural commodity to be used as payment, and the final payment.
