This Milestone in Remote Controlled ROV Operation by Subsea7 Not Only Highlights the Company’s Ability to Overcome Technical Challenges, But Promises to Redefine the Landscape of Offshore Operations.

The leading company in subsea services, Subsea7, announced a remarkable achievement in its technological journey by successfully operating a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) from Scotland to conduct offshore operations along the Brazilian coast, at an impressive distance of 9,400 km. This milestone was achieved through a high-speed communication link with impeccable security, connecting the ROV to Subsea7’s Onshore Control Center located in Aberdeen.

Technological Advancement: ROV Controlled Remotely by Subsea7 Performs Operations on the Brazilian Coast

The operation, which encompassed essential tasks of pipeline inspection and light intervention, was integrated into an ongoing contract for providing Inspection, Repair and Maintenance (IRM) services for the renowned oil company Petrobras.

By overcoming this challenge, Subsea7 validated its technology and internal capabilities to carry out critical repair, inspection, and maintenance activities accurately and safely, with remote control.

This success opens doors to greater operational flexibility and efficiency.

Alan Gray, Subsea7’s Autonomy and ROV Manager, emphasized the importance of this technological milestone and its relevance for future operations: This achievement demonstrates the maturity of our remote piloting systems, highlighting how the synergy between technological innovations and new work paradigms can lead to more sustainable operations.

Gray also noted that while the company has previously employed remote piloting systems for ROVs in the North Sea region, this achievement marks its debut in this type of operation in Brazil.

Remote Control Technology for Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV) Opens New Possibilities for Offshore Operations

In addition to its control base in Aberdeen, Subsea7 has two onshore control centers in Stavanger, Norway, further enhancing its capabilities for remote operation management worldwide.

This remarkable technological advancement not only consolidates Subsea7’s leadership position in the subsea services industry but also highlights the potential for precise and safe remote operations in a sector that continues to embrace innovation to enhance its effectiveness and sustainability.

With this impressive demonstration of its capabilities, Subsea7 is paving the way for the future of ROV operations and solidifying its reputation as a pioneer in technological advancement in challenging maritime environments.
