Honda, in Partnership with General Motors (GM), Announced the Launch of Its First Electric Car, Which Will Be Developed Remotely and with the Architecture Platform.

The Honda Prologue is an Electric SUV that will be the first electric car resulting from the brand’s partnership with General Motors (GM). Thus, the official projections reveal the look of the utility vehicle, already close to the production version that will be launched in 2024. Multinational Honda describes the design of its new electric model as “neo-robust.” The front features a sculpted style, using long and relatively narrow headlights, forming part of a single piece with the front grille where the manufacturer’s logo is located.

The bumper features a wide air passage and round fog lights within a vertical area. Along the sides are plastic black covers on the wheel arches and also on the skirts.

However, the charging port door is located near the front wheel on the driver’s side. The side mirrors and door handles of the Honda and GM electric car have been painted black. Thus, it creates a contrast with the silver bodywork. This official projection shows the electric car only from the front, making it impossible to see some details of the rear.

Judging by the clear shape where the fender meets the rear column, it seems to be more pointed, unlike being straight on the CR-V. The electric car in partnership with General Motors is Honda’s first model to be made in virtual reality. The project started during the pandemic. However, the team at the Honda Design Studio in Los Angeles (USA) had to work remotely.

The artists collaborated with a team in Japan. However, little is known about the mechanics of the electric car in partnership with GM as it is still in an early stage. The only information released is that it will feature a platform made by General Motors.

Electric Car Will Hit the Market in 2024

Just like the Ultium batteries developed by the American automaker, Honda has refused to mention where the electric car is to be manufactured. Thus, there is a rumor that it will be assembled by GM at the Ramos Arizpe facility in Mexico.

The plan of the automaker in partnership with General Motors (GM) is to launch the Prologue in 2024 and, in 2026, it will be time for a line of electric vehicles made with its own platform, Architectur. Thus, starting in 2027, another line would be launched in partnership with GM.

According to the company’s exterior designer, Sang-Hyuk Ahn, the Prologue is envisioned with a longer wheelbase and shorter overhang to develop sporty proportions and a stronger stance. Designing Honda’s first Electric Car gave designers greater freedom than a gasoline-powered vehicle, allowing them to expand their imagination, especially in style.

In Addition to Electric Car, GM Also Established a New Partnership with a Japanese Company to Manufacture Electric Motorcycles

In addition to the partnership with General Motors (GM), Honda also established a new partnership with Japanese retailer MUJI for the advancement of an Electric Scooter. The result of the partnership between the companies is the MS01, which combines a modern appearance, minimalist elements, and black and white finishing.

The Japanese automaker particularly took care of the vehicle’s motorization, while bicycle designer Kenya Hara, who is also the artistic director at MUJI, was responsible for the visual design of the electric scooter.
