The Indian Youtuber, Shivam, Owner of the Creative Science Channel Developed an Electric Scooter That Has Only One Wheel. The Vehicle Has Simple Parts and Does Not Rely on State-of-the-Art Technologies, Making It a Great Functional Innovation.
Whenever we think of vehicles, an image of a motorcycle or a car, or even a quadricycle or a scooter comes to mind. Wheels are an essential part of vehicles, as they make life easier and also act as stabilizers. However, there are several inventors around the world planning to recreate the entire concept and experience of this image that comes to our minds in automotive terms. In November of last year, an Indian Youtuber developed a self-balancing electric scooter that uses only one wheel. The vehicle was posted by the Creative Science channel on YouTube, in a video that shows how the one-wheeled electric scooter was made from scratch.
Learn How the Indian Developed the One-Wheeled Electric Vehicle
Youtuber Shivam started the project by sketching the basic structure of the electric scooter on cardboard so that a mold of what he planned to build could be made. Thus, if something went wrong with the design, he could make corrections right on the cardboard, considering that making alterations on metal sheets would be more complicated. After completing all the design finishes on the cardboard, he moved on to metal.
For the project, a large metal sheet was used to replicate the cardboard design. Soon after, the sheets were cut and welded with the necessary tools to create the wheel arch.

The scooter uses a wide wheel equipped with a hub motor. The Indian emphasizes that wider wheels are easier to balance compared to other sleeker ones. A seat was also made with metal sheets, and underneath it, there was storage for the battery that powers the vehicle.
The bodywork, like the rest of the vehicle, was made with a metal sheet and features a design reminiscent of vintage scooters. The handlebars and headlight unit were taken from another electric scooter. The Indian also developed a mount for the wheel to be fixed, and a metal tube was used as a shaft to hold the handlebars in place.
Electric Scooter Uses Sensor to Prevent Falling
With the motorcycle structure completely made, the Indian installed a self-balancing sensor on the vehicle. The sensor is one of the most important technologies for this creation.
The name is self-explanatory and it is through this component that the electric vehicle is able to stay upright, even with a flatter wheel. The installation process must be careful, and the sensor must be installed correctly and not move, as this could affect the overall calibration of the gyroscope that will keep the electric scooter upright. The wires from the wheel were connected to the sensor, and a set of wires from the sensor was connected to the throttle cable.
Indian Used Only Low-Cost Materials in His Electric Scooter
After all this work, the panels were disassembled and removed, and the entire electric scooter received a coat of primer and another coat of spray-painted yellow. The sharp metal edges of the scooter were covered with plastic tubes.
Overall, the one-wheeled electric vehicle turned out to be a success and can be ridden on the street without any problems. Despite seeming strange, the project is fully functional, and its sensor prevents the vehicle from tipping forward or backward.
The interesting part of the project is that the Youtuber managed to build the one-wheeled electric scooter at home, without using any modern technology, apart from the electronic board and the battery kit.
