Honda Invests R$ 1.6 Billion in Brazil by 2029 to Expand Factories in Manaus and Strengthen Leadership in the Motorcycle Industry.

Honda Bets Big on the Brazilian Industry and Announces Record National Investments

Honda announced this week that it will invest R$ 1.6 billion in Brazil by 2029. The investment will be allocated to the Manaus (AM) factory, where the automaker plans to expand production capacity, modernize assembly lines, and hire new employees.

The announcement comes at a time when the brand already dominates 67.42% of the national motorcycle market. Nevertheless, the company decided not to rest on its laurels and plans to reinforce its two-wheeler industry dominance.

According to the manufacturer, the investment will allow production to rise to 1.6 million motorcycles per year, consolidating Brazil as a key piece in its global strategy.

National Industry in Focus: Honda Factories Will Gain More Flexibility

Today, the Manaus factory already operates above 90% capacity, reaching 1.5 million motorcycles annually. Production only remains stable because workers are consistently doing overtime, with no room for errors.

With the new investment, Honda will hire 350 additional employees, increasing the workforce from 8,650 to 9,000 workers. Thus, the plant, which started operations in 1976 and will soon celebrate its 50th anniversary, will become even more strategic.

Moreover, the company intends to make its assembly lines more flexible. This means that the factory will be able to respond more swiftly to market fluctuations, avoiding production bottlenecks.

National Investments Target Innovation, Distribution, and Suppliers

Honda made it clear that this is not just about increasing numbers. The billion-dollar investment will also fund product renewal, the launch of new models, and the modernization of the supply chain.

Today, the Manaus plant is already considered the most verticalized within the Honda group worldwide. Therefore, the company wants to further integrate productive areas and bring suppliers closer to the assembly line.

An example is Line 1, responsible for producing the CG 160, Biz, and Pop 110i. One motorcycle comes out every 19 seconds, making it the most efficient in the factory. Honda’s goal is to spread this productivity across all lines.

Factories Project a Leap: 7,000 Motorcycles Per Day by 2025

According to the brand, by early 2025, the Manaus unit should produce 7,000 motorcycles per day. This figure confirms that Honda not only wants to maintain its leadership but also to secure an advantage over any competitors in the national market.

With this, the company’s national investments take on a strategic character, strengthening the industry and paving the way for future demands.

Honda, Factories, and the Future: Flex Fuel Continues, Electrification Still a Question

Despite all the movement, Honda still avoids making clear commitments regarding electric motorcycles in Brazil. The sector is already pushing for innovations, but the brand states that each market requires its own solutions.

In the Brazilian case, the bet remains on flex fuel, known as Flex One. The automaker reaffirms that this will continue to be its flagship until the demand for electric vehicles becomes more solid.

Still, the global goal remains: to be carbon neutral by 2050. Therefore, although electric or hybrid options are not ruled out, Honda believes that Brazil still does not offer sufficient conditions to accelerate this movement.

Industry and Jobs: Investment Brings Direct Impact to Brazil

Honda’s announcement reinforces the importance of national investments in the automotive industry. In addition to consolidating the brand’s leadership, the decision generates jobs, strengthens suppliers, and boosts the local economy in Manaus.

Thus, Honda shows that its strategy goes beyond maintaining market presence. The brand sees Brazil as a growth engine for the global industry and ensures that its factories will continue to be a benchmark in productivity.
