The Prologue Is Already Shaking Up The Market And Becoming A Threat To Elon Musk And BYD Cars!
The sales of the new Prologue, electric SUV from Honda, surpassed those of many competitors in the category in the most recent quarter in the American market. With this, the Prologue has become a real threat to Tesla vehicles. Honda’s loyalty among SUV drivers in the U.S. is impressive; about two-thirds trade in their cars for another Honda, similar to what is seen with iPhone users. This has helped the brand quickly reduce Tesla’s supremacy, according to the website bloomberglinea.
An Impressive Performance
In the third quarter, Honda sold about 13,000 Prologues, its mid-size electric SUV, between July and September. Although it still lags behind Tesla’s Model Y, the best-selling electric SUV in the U.S., the Prologue stood out among the most popular electric vehicles, attracting drivers looking for a more affordable alternative. “Finally, an option that doesn’t break the bank!” is what many consumers are thinking.
The Paragon Honda dealership, located in Queens, New York, revealed that in September, for every three CR-Vs sold, one Prologue found a new home. This is due to a series of incentives that made prices nearly equivalent. The starting price of the Prologue is US$ 47,400, just US$ 400 less than the average market value of all cars in the U.S.

Reliability That Wins Over
Unlike many electric vehicles, the Prologue’s performance may not be breathtaking, but it brings features that Honda fans love. Electric cars, as they don’t require oil changes or air filters, generate significant savings in maintenance, about US$ 1,000 less per year compared to gasoline models. Honda is already known for its reliability, and adding an even more reliable vehicle to the lineup is a significant asset.

When asked about the reason for choosing the Prologue, consumers cited brand trust and value as the main factors. Almost two-thirds of Prologue buyers had previously owned a Honda, and about 80% had never owned an electric car.
The Savings That Make A Difference
Mike Eppink, a customer who traded his Honda Pilot for a Prologue, made this change in part to save on gas. With his son playing baseball and many trips for practices and games, he was spending about US$ 250 a month on fuel. “I like the direction electric cars are taking, and they really aren’t that expensive when we look at the numbers,” says Eppink. Although the monthly payment increased slightly, the fuel savings made him feel like he was saving money.
The Growth Of The Electric Market
Despite discussions about a slowdown in electric vehicles in the U.S., third-quarter sales show that many drivers were just waiting for more affordable options. 346,309 battery-powered cars and trucks were sold between July and September, an increase of 5% compared to the previous quarter and a jump of 11% compared to the same period last year. Electric vehicles now represent 9% of new car sales in the U.S., the highest level ever recorded.
Tesla still maintains its credibility, delivering nearly 167,000 vehicles, including about 17,000 Cybertrucks. However, its market share has fallen to less than 50%, while brands like Chevrolet and Honda are capturing curious electric car customers.
The Future Of Honda In The Electric Market
The Prologue may be more expensive than the average car in the U.S., but new Chevrolet models, such as the Equinox and Blazer, have been even more affordable, attracting nearly 18,000 buyers in the last quarter. With the Prologue, Honda is positioning itself to be a significant force in the electric vehicle market, offering consumers a reliable and valuable alternative.
“Honda is showing that it can compete with the big players, and the Prologue is just the beginning of that journey!” With its strategy and innovative products, Honda is ready to challenge Tesla’s leadership and capture a larger share of the electric car market.
