Honda Odyssey Impresses With 280 HP V6 Engine, Sliding Seats, Rear Entertainment System, and Comfort For Up To 8 People. Luxury Minivan Is Sold For Up To US$ 40,000 In The U.S.

While many markets have abandoned minivans in favor of SUVs, the Honda Odyssey remains a strong reference in the United States for comfort, space, and technology for large families. Equipped with a powerful 280 HP V6 engine, a system of sliding and removable seats, and a rear entertainment system with a folding screen, it delivers a premium experience at a surprisingly reasonable price: up to US$ 40,000 for the top trim.

Although it is not available in Brazil, Honda’s minivan remains an example of how a family vehicle can be complete, robust, and still sophisticated. In a market increasingly dominated by SUVs and crossovers, the Odyssey proves that there is still room for truly practical solutions — without sacrificing drivability and connectivity.

Honda Minivan Combines Powerful V6 Engine With Comfortable Driving

Under the hood, the Honda Odyssey features one of the brand’s most traditional and reliable mechanical setups: the 3.5L i-VTEC V6 engine, naturally aspirated, with 280 horsepower and 36 kgfm of torque, mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission with smooth and well-calibrated shifts.

Even weighing over 2 tons, the minivan delivers quick responses, safe overtaking, and excellent performance even when loaded with 7 or 8 occupants. The drivetrain is front-wheel drive (FWD), and the suspension has been tuned to ensure comfort on long trips, even on imperfect terrains.

According to data from the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), the Odyssey records an average fuel consumption of 9.3 km/l in the city and up to 12.7 km/l on the highway, numbers considered good for a minivan of this size and engine.

Honda Odyssey Interior Offers Sliding Seats and Capacity for Up To 8 People

One of the main differentiators of Honda’s luxury minivan lies within its interior. The model accommodates up to 8 occupants comfortably and offers the exclusive Magic Slide system, which allows sliding, removing, or repositioning the central seats in various ways, facilitating access to the third row or creating a central space between the child seats.

The cabin is spacious, quiet, and very well finished. Soft-touch materials prevail on the dashboard, and there are USB ports in all rows, cup holders throughout, and generous storage compartments for luggage.

Interior highlights:

  • Automatic three-zone climate control with individual controls
  • Conversation mirror for monitoring children in the back seat
  • Retractable curtains on the rear windows
  • CabinTalk intercom system, which projects the driver’s voice through the rear speakers
  • Trunk with up to 1,094 liters with the rows folded down

In practice, the Odyssey turns the car into a rolling living room — which is why it is considered a reference for long trips and family transport in the United States.

Rear Entertainment System With HD Screen and Complete Connectivity

Honda equipped the Odyssey Touring and Elite with a complete rear entertainment system: a 10.2-inch HD screen that folds down from the ceiling, with HDMI input, Blu-ray, and Wi-Fi streaming compatibility. It is possible to connect video game consoles, USB drives, or even stream videos directly from a smartphone.

The premium audio system with 11 speakers and a subwoofer provides an immersive experience. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity are standard, as well as integrated GPS navigation, Wi-Fi hotspot, and voice commands.

Drivers have a 7-inch digital display, a multifunction instrument cluster, and an 8” touchscreen multimedia center with an intuitive interface.

Honda Minivan Safety Includes Adaptive Cruise Control and Automatic Braking

The Odyssey is one of the safest minivans for sale worldwide. All models come with the Honda Sensing package, which includes key assisted driving features:

  • Adaptive cruise control (ACC) with distance adjustment
  • Automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection
  • Active lane-keeping assist
  • Front collision and blind spot alert with side camera (LaneWatch)
  • Multiview rear camera and front and rear parking sensors
  • 8 airbags and reinforced progressive crumple zone ACE™ structure

In IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) crash tests, the 2024/2025 Odyssey received top marks in all categories, including side protection, rollover, and roof strength.

Odyssey Design Blends Elegance and Robustness With Electric Tailgate and 19” Wheels

Despite its family-oriented proposal, the Honda Odyssey also impresses with its design. With a front inspired by the brand’s SUVs and clean lines that balance robustness and elegance, it stands out from conventional minivans.

The rear features LED taillights, a sporty spoiler, and an electric tailgate with a presence sensor. The 19-inch wheels on the higher trims enhance the imposing appearance, while the chrome side details add sophistication.

The model is available in 6 colors and three main trim levels: EX-L, Touring, and Elite. The top-of-the-line version includes a panoramic sunroof and front seats with ventilation and heating.

How Much Does The Honda Odyssey Cost And Why Is It Not Sold In Brazil?

In the U.S., the 2025/2026 Honda Odyssey starts at US$ 38,000 for the EX-L trim and goes up to US$ 43,000 for the fully equipped Elite. In direct conversion, with taxes, it could exceed R$ 400,000 in Brazil — which would explain the absence of the minivan from the national portfolio.

In addition, the lack of interest in the Brazilian market for minivans, coupled with import costs and low demand, leads Honda to prioritize SUVs and flex-fuel models in the country, such as the HR-V, ZR-V, and hybrid Accord.

Nevertheless, independent importers offer the Odyssey for prices ranging from R$ 490,000 to R$ 570,000, catering to families who seek maximum space and comfort without sacrificing brand reliability.

Abandonaram as mini-vans no Brasil, mas a verdade é que nem os suv’s vendem como as mini-vans. Atenção Honda !!!
