Honda Has Just Announced A New Electric SUV That Is Expected To Hit The Market Still This Year. The Electric Vehicle Entitled Honda e:Ny1 Delivers Great Performance And Innovative Design.
The Honda, a multinational automaker founded in Japan, presented this week its second electric vehicle for the European market. The vehicle, named Honda e:Ny1, is an electric SUV based on the new dedicated platform and with a design practically identical to that of the well-known HR-V. Thus, it is a European version of the Honda e:NS1/e:NP1 models launched in the Chinese market.
Honda e:Ny1 Electric SUV Delivers 204 Hp Of Power
Thus, Honda fulfills the promise made last year to expand its electric car lineup in the Old Continent. Those who are more familiar with the Chinese electric vehicle market will immediately recognize that the e:Ny1 is essentially the same model as the Honda e:NS1/e:NP1 sold in the world’s largest automotive market.
The new Honda electric SUV is based on a new platform called e:N Architecture F. The final letter of the designation indicates front-wheel drive. Thus, the electric vehicle will feature only one electric motor.

Used Toyota Corolla Cross features a 2.0 engine with up to 177 hp, a hybrid version that achieves up to 17 km/l and 122 hp combined, a 10-speed CVT transmission, a package with 6 airbags and adaptive cruise control, as well as prices starting from R$ 117,000 and reaching R$ 149,000 in versions such as XRE, XR, XRV Hybrid, and GR-S.
Therefore, it can be assumed that Honda also plans to develop models based on this architecture in the near future, which have two motors and thus all-wheel drive.
The new Honda e:Ny1 will be built with a 68.8 kWh battery that powers a 150 kW electric motor, equivalent to 204 horsepower, and 31.6 kgfm of torque, sufficient to deliver acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.6 seconds and a top speed limited to 160 km/h.
Electric Vehicle Features Several Technologies Inside
Honda announced that the range of the electric SUV will be 412 km on a charge according to the WLTP standard and a maximum charging power of 78 kW, sufficient for a charging time from 10 to 80% in 45 minutes, or to add 100 km of range in 11 minutes.
Inside the model, what stands out is a new central console with a simple and modern layout designed for functionality with wireless charging and a large 15.1-inch touchscreen for the information and entertainment system.
The Honda e:Ny1 will be on sale in the European continent later this year and has been developed to meet the growing demand for electric SUVs in sector B in the region. The multinational Honda has not disclosed prices or a debut date; however, local press predicts an official launch by the end of 2023.
Honda Also Invests In The Electric Motorcycle Sector
In addition to this electric SUV, Honda is also developing an electric motorcycle which may resemble its CB 500 or even the current Hornet.
The person responsible for the electrification of the multinational, executive Shinji Aoyama, provided details about the future model that does not use fossil fuels and will fall into the “fun” category, meaning a recreational motorcycle. When the automaker announced last September that it would launch 10 electric motorcycles by 2025, three of the planned motorcycles were in this category; however, with limited information.
According to Honda’s executive vice president, the company is working on this recreational motorcycle, which is expected to reach the market in 2024 or 2025, which, despite being electric, would be comparable to a current 500 to 750 cc twin-cylinder motorcycle. The executive highlights that the electric Hornet will not be a super sport motorcycle but rather a different product that goes beyond what is seen as an urban daily use model.
