Cleaning the car engine may seem complicated, but with the right tips, it is possible to do it simply and safely. Learn how to keep everything clean and functional.

Many drivers worry about cleaning the exterior of the car and the interior, but they often forget to clean the engine. After all, it is hidden under the hood and isn’t seen all the time.

However, keeping the engine clean is not just a matter of aesthetics, but also of prevention. Accumulated dirt can cause serious issues, such as oxidation of electrical components, battery damage, and drying out of hoses.

One of the best ways to clean the engine is dry washing. This method is safe, effective, and avoids problems that can arise from excessive water use. And the best part: it can be done at home, without the need for specialized tools.

How to Wash the Car Engine Dry

Before starting the cleaning, it is essential to have the right products. See the list of necessary materials:

  • WD-40: Ideal for protecting electrical parts;
  • Decarbonizer: To remove grease and heavier dirt;
  • Veja Multiuso: To degrease the surface;
  • Brushes: For detailing in hard-to-reach areas;
  • Microfiber Towels: For finishing and drying;
  • Pet Hair Removal Glove or Laundry Brush: For scrubbing surfaces.

Step-by-Step Dry Washing

  1. Start with the Hood: Use the glove or brush to remove accumulated dust. This prevents dirt from falling into the engine later.
  2. Apply Veja on the Hood: Use the microfiber towel to remove grease and stains.
  3. Engine Cleaning: Start from the center to the edges, ensuring even coverage.
  4. Engine Cover: Apply Veja and clean with the microfiber towel.
  5. Tight Spots: Use brushes to access smaller areas.
  6. Battery: Clean with decarbonizer and finish with the microfiber towel.
  7. Grease Removal: In the dirtiest areas, apply decarbonizer and scrub gently.
  8. Electrical Components: Use WD-40 to protect them, removing excess with the towel.
  9. Front Part: Since it is made of metal, use Veja and the towel to finish.

With these simple steps, the car engine will be clean and protected against future damage. To better understand the process, watch the explanatory video below, which details the step-by-step washing in the home garage, without the need for a professional.
