Huawei advances in solar energy in Brazil, becoming a leader in the supply of solar inverters, equipment that receives energy from panels.
Owners of 30% of the solar energy market in Brazil, the company is now preparing to launch electric batteries that can be associated with photovoltaic generation systems, according to the director of Digital Energy Business at Huawei do Brasil, Quanling Wang.

At a time when the Chinese company Huawei advances in Brazil in investments in solar energy and batteries, President Jair Bolsonaro signals that he may impose restrictions on the country's 5G technology auction, scheduled for 2021, amid pressure from the United States (USA) so that Huawei is vetoed in the competition, a possibility that has the sympathy of sectors of the government.
Brazil – USA and China
US President Donald Trump has said that Huawei's technology for the next generation of 5G networks could be used to spy on the West.
China and the company strongly reject the allegations. Asked how the controversy over 5G could impact business, including solar energy, the director of Digital Energy Business at Huawei do Brasil, Quanling Wang, said that Huawei “does not comment on politics” and is focused on its activities.
The Chinese company has been operating in Brazil since 2016 in solar energy projects and is interested in batteries
“This sector is still very small in relation to the total market, if we talk in terms of energy matrix, the solar part represents less than 2%. So we think that the solar industry has a really bright future in Brazil.
And besides, Brazil has a very good resource compared to any country in the world, of sun, of irradiation”, said the director of Digital Energy Business at Huawei do Brasil, Quanling Wang.
“Huawei started the solar business in Brazil at the end of 2016 and so far, in three years or so, it has already become the market leader,” she added, commenting that solar plants in operation or under construction with Huawei solar inverters add up to about 2 gigawatts of power. The combined use of solar energy and batteries can provide uninterrupted energy supply.
