There is still no forecast for the road to be reopened, which worries drivers and residents in the area.
Dnit technicians are on-site analyzing the situation, and for safety measures, they recommended a provisional closure to protect drivers and avoid possible accidents.
Detours for Light Vehicles
As the stretch is completely closed, the PRF and Dnit have released alternative routes for drivers.
For light vehicles, the recommendation is to use a detour of approximately 18.52 km.
- The provisional detour begins at BR-235/TO at km 205.59 and goes until the vicinity of km 199.99 of the highway.
- From that point, the route continues along an unpaved road of approximately 11 km until arriving in the city of Guaraí (TO).
- Drivers traveling through this stretch should exercise extra caution, as the road does not have the same safety conditions as BR-153.
Alternatives for Heavy Vehicles
For heavy vehicles, the alternative route is longer, at approximately 215 km.
North to South Direction
- Access TO-336, which connects Colmeia/TO to Goiany dos Campos/TO, to TO-164.
- Continue to Goianorte/TO and then proceed to Dois Irmãos/TO, accessing TO-342.
- Finally, reach BR-153 in Miranorte/TO.
- The journey is long and may increase travel time by several hours, directly impacting the transportation of goods and passenger movement.
South to North Direction
- In Miranorte/TO, follow TO-342 to Dois Irmãos/TO.
- Continue on TO-164 to Goianorte/TO and then proceed to Goiany dos Campos/TO.
- To access Colmeia/TO and finally arrive at Guaraí, use TO-366.

Impacts of the Closure
The closure of BR-153 causes significant impacts on mobility in the region, especially for drivers who rely on the highway for transporting goods and daily commuting.
The closure of the highway affects commerce, as many products that supply the region pass through this stretch.
The lack of forecast for reopening worries merchants and transport companies that use the stretch as an essential route.
Additionally, drivers who are not familiar with the area should exercise extra caution when using the detours, especially the unpaved sections.
The PRF recommends that drivers plan their trips in advance and stay informed about updates from authorities regarding the reopening of the highway.
The Importance of BR-153
BR-153 is one of the most important highways in Brazil, traversing several states and connecting strategic regions of the country.
Any closure along its route has immediate effects on local logistics and economy.
The transportation of goods is one of the most affected sectors, as the highway is part of the corridor for the flow of agricultural, industrial products, and essential supplies.
Delays in reopening can lead to delivery delays, increased freight costs, and financial losses for businesses and consumers.
In light of the current situation, the expectation is that Dnit technicians will assess the structural conditions of the highway to determine the next actions and ensure the safety of drivers and fluid traffic in the region.
The population and drivers hope that authorities expedite repairs and find efficient solutions to minimize the disruptions caused by the closure of BR-153.
