Despite facing some criticism, Toyota decided to innovate the concept of sustainable cars and surprises the automotive industry with the idea of increasing the efficiency of combustion engines.

Recently, the large automotive industry has been working hard to transition from combustion engine cars to electric vehicles. However, Toyota has decided to take a different path: the idea now is to increase the efficiency of cars with combustion engines.

Even though there is almost unanimous consensus that electric cars and other electrified vehicles will surpass gasoline-powered cars, it is still uncertain when this will actually happen.

On the other hand, Toyota believes this will not happen as quickly as many think, and that is why the Japanese automaker decided to follow a different path, creating a new strategy to dominate the sustainable vehicle sector and push Tesla Motors, led by Elon Musk, to the sidelines.

For some time, Toyota has been investing millions in technology aimed at new combustion engines as a way to increase their efficiency, until electric vehicle models are more intensely implemented in the automotive industry one day.

The Japanese automaker has been basing its work on the cars used in Formula 1, analyzing their efficiency and power with less friction, to create an engine model that promises to surprise the entire automotive industry.

Aiming to introduce an alternative fuel in the automotive market, besides electric, Toyota has been innovating in its hydrogen-powered cars, like the Mirai and Yaris.

Many people in the automotive world are criticizing Toyota, calling the Japanese automaker ‘conservative’ for not being completely committed to shifting combustion-powered vehicles to electric.

Toyota Responds to Criticism

In response to all the criticism aimed at Toyota, the Japanese automaker countered by delivering 15 brand-new electric car models, intending to attract its investors, showing that the brand is not only aware of the innovations in the automotive market amid the ongoing global transition to electrification, but it is also capable of providing better and more efficient conditions for models still powered by combustion.

The Toyota BZ4X was the first fully electric model launched by Toyota early this year. In addition to the Toyota BZ4X, another 7 entirely new models have been introduced by the Japanese automaker and are expected to reach all parts of the world by 2025.

Until that happens, Toyota will remain committed to sending out other hybrid vehicle models as a way to counter the strong criticism regarding the production of other products. This demonstrates that Toyota is well updated on what is new in the international automotive market and is confident that current models will meet all needs, even if gradually, in the evolution of all its vehicles.
