Tesla, Company of Billionaire Elon Musk, Is Developing a Prototype That Promises to Expand the Range of Electric Cars Through Solar Energy.
The electric car market has reached a point where there is already talk about solar-powered cars that can go for months without any recharging or cars with induction fueling that, in theory, could have infinite range. But, while equipping electric cars with solar panels is still not something very accessible, Tesla has presented a new prototype to expand the range of its models.
Tesla Develops Trailer That Generates Solar Energy
This is a trailer equipped with solar panels that promise to extend the range of electric cars. Not only that, the prototype also has satellite internet from Starlink, the fast connection service from Elon Musk’s companies. The product was revealed during a technology exhibition held in Germany, where it was photographed by a Tesla enthusiast profile on a social network.
Although no details have been revealed, other than the fact that the prototype has internal storage capacity, the trailer would be a great addition for adventure lovers, as it would provide energy to charge electric cars or other important technologies while providing internet to the user.

Starlink in Electric Cars
Elon Musk’s Starlink service was recently approved for cars in the U.S., as well as commercial ships and airlines. It’s important to note that this is not the first time Tesla has been involved with solar energy technology.
During the development of the Tesla Model 3, the company’s executive proposed to the engineers the installation of solar panels to increase the range of electric cars. However, the idea was discarded due to high costs and revisited with the Cybertruck.
The final version of the pickup has not yet been revealed, so it is still not possible to say whether the technology will be installed or set aside again. However, Elon Musk has not given up on using solar energy in favor of his electric cars, as shown by the prototype.
Tesla Dives Deeper Into the Solar Energy Market
In addition to solar energy for electric cars, Tesla’s new solar tile could revolutionize the market due to its very low price and can be compared to common tiles, with a lifespan of three decades.
The project is the result of a partnership between Tesla and Solar City, a producer of solar energy panels. Production of the tile was supposed to begin in 2018, but had to be postponed to meet quality standards.
The price of the solar tile was announced through a post on social media, where Tesla had already started the ordering phase. Although delayed, considering the material and labor for the installation and removal of common tiles, the total cost of the tile would be around US$ 42 per square foot, equivalent to 0.09 m².
Indian Develops Solar-Powered Car
An Indian inventor has gained attention for developing a solar-powered vehicle. According to reports, the electric car of the “Indian Elon Musk” was built in about 11 years.
The developer of the project is Bilal Ahmed, a mathematics teacher in Srinagar, Kashmir, India. The project came from the idea of developing a sustainable luxury car that would also be popular.
This way, the invention is perfect for today’s times, where fuel prices are very high and electric mobility is shifting to a more sustainable scenario.
