Inmetro Revealed Updated Data Highlighting The Ford Maverick Hybrid As The Most Fuel-Efficient Pickup In The Segment, Achieving Up To 15.7 Km/L And Nearly 1,000 Total Range.
The search for the most efficient pickup in Brazil has just become even more popular. Inmetro has released its latest energy efficiency table, highlighting the most economical model in the market. The Ford Maverick Hybrid, being the first and only hybrid pickup from Ford available in the country, earns the title of the most efficient in Brazil.
Ford Maverick Hybrid Goes Almost 1,000 Km?
The National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (Inmetro) has released the new table of the Brazilian Vehicle Labeling Program (PBEV). This brought valuable data about aspects of vehicles available in the Brazilian market, including energy efficiency.
Inmetro evaluated 747 models and versions of cars from various categories. Among all, the Ford Maverick Hybrid stood out as the pickup with the best energy performance, meaning it covers the most distance while consuming the least energy.

Fiat works miracles in the Brazilian market, lowers the price of its 0 km hatch to R$ 69,990, reestablishes the model as the cheapest car in the country, and reignites the battle against Kwid and C3.
The measured consumption for it was only 1.44 Megajoule per km. To put this into perspective, with this result, Ford’s pickup outperformed hatches like the Chevrolet Onix (1.45 Mj/km) and Renault Sandero (1.48 Mj/km).
This title strengthens it as a reference in fuel economy in the segment. Moreover, it confirms how this technology works to reduce the use of fossil fuels and serves as an alternative and transitional point towards electric mobility.
This level of efficiency clearly reflects a low fuel consumption, as well as better range. Thus, the Ford Maverick Hybrid achieves an average of 15.7 km/l of gasoline in the city and 13.6 km/l on the highway, with an exceptional range exceeding 800 km on a single tank.
Understand Why The Ford Pickup Delivers So Much Efficiency
This efficiency of the Ford Maverick Hybrid is driven by a set of advanced technologies. First, its hybrid system consists of a 2.5 Atkinson gasoline engine and an electric motor, which together offer a combined power of 194 horsepower.
In addition, features such as regenerative braking, active aerodynamic grille, Auto Start-Stop system, and high-efficiency tires help maximize efficiency without compromising performance.
Finally, the Ford Maverick Hybrid has a complete package of equipment that makes it more practical, luxurious, and comfortable, including a digital dashboard, SYNC multimedia system, automatic LED headlights, and keypad door opening.
For curiosity’s sake, the most fuel-efficient diesel pickup available in Brazil is the Toro Ranch, which achieves 11.3 km/l in the city and 14.3 km/l on the highway. It does this with its 2.0 turbo diesel engine producing 170 horsepower and 35.7 kgfm.
Having Ford’s pickup as the most efficient in Brazil is interesting. Besides demonstrating how hybrid technology makes a difference, it once again highlights the potential of electric energy and motors to drive even the giants of the market.
What Are The Least Fuel-Efficient Cars Listed By Inmetro
Among the cars that consume the most energy, according to Inmetro, are luxury SUVs and super sports cars. The agency evaluates energy efficiency of models by MJ/km, a measure of how much energy is consumed to move the vehicle one km. Vehicles with higher energy consumption exhibit lower range per liter of fuel.
The Ferrari Purosangue leads as the least fuel-efficient car, with an average consumption of only 4.8 km/l, being the top consumer available in Brazil in 2024, noted not only for its performance but also for its high cost.
